Description
Open to the general public and any current Municipal employee.
This is an executive position (no union affiliation) and serves at the pleasure of the Mayor of the Municipality of Anchorage.
DEPARTMENT:
Information Technology
HOURS OF WORK:
Monday through Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and as needed
LOCATION:
632 W 6th Avenue The Chief Information Technology Officer directs the designs, develops and maintains systems, programs, and software to meet the needs of the municipality.
Oversees and manages hardware/software, Municipality of Anchorage (MOA) telecommunications systems, security, archiving, retention schedules, as well as print and courier services.
Assists in the development of strategic plans that support the information systems infrastructure goals. Evaluates and analyzes the department's organization structure and recommends changes to enhance efficiencies. Maintains, oversees, and directs system disaster/recovery plans that include back up of servers and other systems. Responsible for establishing technology related standards and facilitates management of all technology resources. Evaluates the effectiveness of systems and the requirement with user groups offering solutions that enhance effectiveness. Recommends system applications and assigns resources to develop programs. Identifies and develops the capability to use new technology tools. Responsible for security of systems and applications and ensure compliance with federal regulations, state statutes and municipal code. Participates in the development, monitoring and controlling expenditures of the Information Technology (IT) budget.Manages and directs the activities of the employees and contractors of IT by setting goals, monitoring performance, and taking appropriate actions.

Military Service Interview Preference :

Individuals currently serving as a member in good standing in the National Guard or the organized military reserves who wish to be considered for interview preference as permitted in Municipal Personnel Rules D must attach proof of current service to the application.
