    Description
    Position: Financial Accountant

    Location: New York City, NY

    Company: A cutting-edge interactive museum at the forefront of technology and innovation.

    Role Overview:

    We are seeking a meticulous and detail-oriented Financial Accountant to join our clients team . The ideal candidate will play a critical role in supporting the museum's financial operations by maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. If you are a proactive problem-solver with a passion for finance and a keen eye for accuracy, we want to hear from you

    Responsibilities:
    1. Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and organizational guidelines. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    2. General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the general ledger and subsidiary ledgers, recording all financial transactions accurately and timely. Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies to ensure the completeness and accuracy of financial records.
    3. Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets and periodic forecasts, working closely with departmental managers to gather input and track variances. Monitor budget performance and provide analysis to support decision-making and resource allocation.
    4. Accounts Payable and Receivable: Process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoices, expense reports, and payments. Generate customer invoices and follow up on accounts receivable to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
    5. Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and reporting to support management decision-making and strategic planning. Analyze trends, variances, and key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and optimization.
    6. Compliance and Audit Support: Ensure compliance with financial regulations, policies, and procedures. Assist with internal and external audits by providing documentation, explanations, and support as needed.
    7. Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline financial processes, enhance controls, and improve efficiency. Implement best practices and recommend system enhancements to optimize the effectiveness of financial operations.
    Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification preferred.
    • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in financial accounting or related role.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
    • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
    • Excellent analytical skills with a keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience in the nonprofit sector or cultural institutions is a plus.
