Summary

This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), United States Coast Guard (USCG), Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC), Business Operations Division (BOD), Information Services Branch (ISB), Baltimore, Maryland.

This position is in-person and on-site but may be authorized situational telework.

This is NOT a bargaining unit position.

Duties

This position serves as an IT Cybersecurity Specialist (INFOSEC), in the Surface Forces Logistics Center (SFLC), Business Operations Division (BOD), Information Services Branch (ISB). This position is responsible for ensuring the confidentiality, integrity and availability of systems and data through planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance and enhancements of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools. This position will serve as a team member supporting Platform Information Technology (PIT) and Platform Information Technology Systems (PITS) across the Coast Guard Surface Domain consisting of approximately 240 cutters and over 1,800 boats as well the SFLC and Coast Guard Yard Shore Side IT Products, Services, and Information Systems (IS).

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical duties include but are not limited to:

Assisting the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) Team, Security Control Assessor (SCA) Team, and IT Cybersecurity Specialists with supporting Information System Owner's (ISO), Information System Security Engineer's (ISSE) and other Information Technology (IT) Specialists with the Risk Management Framework (RMF) process including collection of information, analysis of security features, verification of controls, recommendations/verification of implementation of controls, and other duties as defined by DHS, DoD and Coast Guard policies.

Assisting with the identification, categorization, establishment, and maintenance of accreditations of Platform Information Technology (PIT), PIT Systems, IT Products/Services, and Information Systems (IS) throughout the acquisition and into the sustainment processes and lifecycles.

Performing system security analysis to support decision making, risk management and systems engineering for PIT/PITS, IT Products/Services, and IS.

Creating and reviewing of PIT/PITS Security Authorization packages, supporting the SCA and ISSO Team of the Coast Guard Surface Domain (., all cutters and boats) and their associated Product Lines and Shared Service Divisions. Develop and review product and system design diagrams, topologies and drawings with the support of Surface ISSE's/Security Engineers, Product Vendors and Acquisitions, Project Office, and Sustainment Elements.

Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of systems and data through the planning, analysis, development, implementation, maintenance, and enhancements of information systems security programs, policies, procedures, and tools as a IT Cybersecurity Specialist.

Monitors and audits the schedule, cost, design, analysis, operational performance and/or internal security procedures of national security systems (NSS) and respective classified information, critical infrastructure, mission essential systems (MES), high value assets (HVA) or other USCG products, equipment, and information systems.

Utilizing knowledge of the DoD and Coast Guard Security Authorization Process, guidance, and documents to secure and defend the maritime environment.

Utilizing knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF), NIST Instructions and Vendor best practices to apply and implement security controls, policies, procedures and guidelines to the Coast Guard Security Authorization Process and Assets.

Recommend, design, develop, and implement policies and strategies to ensure the CIA of related PIT/PITS, IT Products/Services, and IS.

Conduct a variety of duties related to Information Technology (IT) projects. Work with and provide junior Cybersecurity Specialists and Information Technology Specialists with guidance, instruction and assistance in supporting the SFLC, CG Yard, and the Surface Fleet.

Occasional operations of a motor vehicle is necessary to travel to meetings and support clients, customers, stakeholders and systems in the local commuting area. The work environment is typically in an office setting however, some projects may take place in a warehouse, storage, or industrial and maritime environment both indoors and outdoors.
