    Position Summary


    The Staff Accountant plays an important role in the organization by performing a number of activities related to the company's Accounting functions.

    The role is primarily responsible, under general supervision, for performing all branch accounting processes and P & L tasks assigned; as well as, assisting with calculating monthly incentive compensation and bonus payments for assigned regions.

    Essential Functions


    Process recurring and one-time monthly close tasks such as journal entries, adjustments, reporting, account reconciliations and other basic accounting tasks for branches and corporate departments.

    Assist Accounting Manager with bonus memo audit and review, and review of month-end journal entries.
    Assist Accounting Manager with testing and implementation of programming enhancements and fixes.
    Analyze variances for monthly P&L's for branches at assigned regions.
    Research and respond to branch managers' inquiries for assigned regions.
    Coach branch managers and other branch employees on the Loan Vision Branch Portal.
    Train branch managers on the accounting and incentive comp process during reoccurring manager orientation trainings.
    Prepare Monthly Regional Override and Bonus Memos.
    Review Monthly Branch Manager and Sales Manager Override Bonus Memos.

    Assist with all aspects of compensation as it relates to assigned regions for branch/district/regional managers, branch staff bonuses, loan officer incentive compensation, including: calculation, research, interpreting contracts, communication, accounting, and reconciliation.

    Identify areas for process improvements, efficiencies, enhancements and internal controls.

    Manage all aspects of compensation as it relates to assigned regions for branch/district/regional managers, branch staff bonuses, and loan officer incentive compensation including: calculation, research, interpreting contracts, communication.

    Use expertise to answer questions for Incentive Comp Accountants Level 1 & 2 and Staff Accountants Level 1 & 2.

    Work closely with Accounting Manager on month-end close processes and reporting.
    Prepare miscellaneous reporting for management.
    Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications


    Associate Degree in Accounting or Finance, along with at least 5 years of relevant accounting experience required; Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with at least 2 years of relevant accounting experience preferred.

    Thorough understanding of accounting including but not limited to: prepaid, accruals, income statement accounts, balance sheet accounts, intercompany accounts, consolidation, reconciliations and general ledger.

    Preferred experience include mortgage industry experience, sales compensation experience, Loan Vision software, advanced MS Excel including pivot tables and V-Lookups.

    Ability to read and interpret compensation contracts.
    Possess attention to detail; as well as, a quick learner who can adapt to a fast pace environment.
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to interact effectively with all levels of staff and management.
    Time management, organization, analytical and multi-tasking skills required, with the ability to handle tight deadlines.
    Excellent research and problem-solving skills and ability to propose solutions to problems.
    High level of integrity and ethical behavior.

    Requirements

    Physical:
    Work is primarily sedentary; mobility in an office setting.

    Manual Dexterity:
    Frequent use of computer keyboard and mouse.

    Audio/Visual:
    Ability to accurately interpret sounds and associated meanings at a volume consistent with interpersonal conversation.

    Regularly required to accurately perceive, distinguish and interpret information received visually and through audio; e.g., words, numbers and other data broadcasted aloud/viewed on a screen, as well as print and other media.


    Environmental:
    Office environment – no substantial exposure to adverse environmental conditions.

    $62,244.00 to $84,700.00 annually


    Compensation at Guild is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to local and federal minimum wage requirements, education, level of experience, and applicant's geographical location.
