Description

The Controller will provide strategic and operational leadership of the Accounting and Finance department and high-level support to the Chief Financial Officer.

They will manage the daily operations of the Accounting and Finance team, provide financial analysis, management reporting, and ensure adequate financial controls for the Bank.

Accounting Systems & Operations
Maintain responsibility for all aspects of the accounting records.
Review journal entries.
Evaluate financials for errors and reasonableness.
Review and approve the work of staff accountants.
Lead and manage team of Finance and Accounting professionals.

Oversee the administration and change management of various accounting systems including the general ledger, accounts payable, fixed assets, vendor management, audit, investment portfolio accounting and asset/liability management.

Oversee core application and general ledger account mapping and posting permissions.
Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles, internal policies and procedures and regulatory requirements.
Ensure accounting processes, policies and procedures are efficient, effective and consistent with industry best practices.
Financial Reporting

Prepare or oversee preparation of financial data analysis and develop insights to assist management in the assessment and analysis of performance in meeting established goals.

Oversee delivery of data to the Bank's outsourced tax preparers on a quarterly basis.
Oversee the preparation and review of monthly and quarterly financial statements and other financial reports.
Prepare and oversee regulatory filings including quarterly call reports, FR-2900, FR Y-8, SEP, Summary of Deposits, and FR Y-9SP.
Coordinate engagements with internal and external auditors relative to the finance function
Oversee the bank's reconciliation process, holding company accounting, and elimination process.
Provide insight, data and reports as requested by regulatory examiners during examinations.
Financial Management and Data Analysis
Manage daily funding needs by working with correspondent banking relationships to ensure adequate funding. Test credit lines on a periodic basis.
Assist the CFO in the budget process for both the operating and capital budgets.

Assist the CFO in the reporting of financial information to the Board of Directors including information regarding investments, allowance for loan losses, sources and uses of funds and other financial information.

Develop and produce scheduled and ad hoc reports from the Bank's general ledger system, CRM/BI DNA Publisher Suite, and other bank databases.

Oversee delivery of data to the Bank's outsourced ALCO vendor, participate in ALCO meetings and assist with the completion of projects resulting from ALCO meetings.

Vendor Management
Assist the CFO's oversight of the vendor management program using the bank's third-party management platform.
Collaborate with Vendor Relationship Managers to complete vendor significance and risk assessments.

Oversee the vendor due diligence process, including reviews of SOC reports, contracts, financial statements, business continuity plans, incident response plans, and other reviews.

Audit Coordinator
Work with stakeholders to coordinate audits conducted by external consultants.
Oversee the bank's process of tracking and resolving open audit findings.
Perform internal verification of audit remediation plans.
Job Requirements
Bachelor of Science degree in accounting, finance or related field required.
CPA certification highly preferred, or equivalent experience in third party risk management.
3-5 years of experience as an Assistant Controller, Senior Accountant or Auditor and/or 2-3 years of Public Accounting experience.
Strong analytical skills, problem solving skills, and communication skills are required.
Ability to lead and manage a team of finance and accounting professionals.
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Excel and Access.
