Position Summary
Reporting to the NAM President, the
Vice President of Supply Chain
(VPSC) will have responsibility for procurement, logistics, inventory control, and support on planning and scheduling.
S/he will be responsible for:
the development and communication of the supply chain in order to drive high customer service while optimizing inventory levels; oversee the supply chain budget and operating performance, along with key service, quality and cost metrics and focus on continuous improvement programs.; provide strategic cross-functional collaboration with Sales, Operations, Quality and Customer Service to ensure team alignment and execute strategic planning initiatives.
The VPSC must be highly "process driven" and continuously improve the supply chain and manage complex customer needs, as well as benchmark and work to understand similar environments in order to implement best practices to continue to transform Opta in a world class company.
Among responsibilities, s/he will be overseeing the inventory, distribution, and transportation activities of an organization, directing and overseeing the supply chain management team in order to optimize several manufacturing locations and potential distribution centers, and leading procurement efforts to efficiently and effectively enable NAM MS to maximize the value received from suppliers to meet its objectives.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesProcurement
Oversee Procurement, which will work with Planning and Scheduling to ensure the required raw products and materials needed by operations and labeling are available at the most cost-effective price to meet customer demand and quality standards
Maintain working knowledge of key markets, commodities and inputs, and establish indicator metrics to identify price movements
Develop strong relationships with key suppliers
Lead key contract/pricing negotiations
Identify strategic sourcing alliances
Logistics
Oversees Logistics, which manages the flow of goods between the point of origin and the point of consumption in the most efficient and cost-effective manner to meet the requirements of the chain, mainly focusing on the customer.
This includes all inbound, intercompany, and outbound material movementInbound is responsible for coordinating the transfer of raw products and materials from suppliers to operations, where and when they are needed, for production and labeling
Intercompany is responsible for coordinating all in-house inventory movement, warehouse utilization and outside warehousing
Outbound is responsible for arranging and delivering desired quantity of finished goods to the customers on time
Oversees the transportation, which includes both owned and third part fleet
Identify the most efficient and cost-effective methods to move inventory throughout the supply chain
truck vs. rail, rail vs. barge, potential distribution center
Identify strategic alliances to meet our logistical needs
Manage and direct a team to oversee a logistics network: negotiating contracts with 3PLs, maximizing throughput, ensuring reliability, and with a focused attention toward optimized operating expenses and investment returns
Planning and Scheduling
Work with Commercial area to oversee the execution of the planning in a detailed schedule (MRP), work with demand planning and customer service to schedule production and labeling to meet customer requirements, as well as coordinate with procurement and logistics to supply the inputs required to meet the schedule
Oversee the inventory control, which will focus on improving our cash position by efficiently managing inventory, while still maintaining our high standards of customer service
Ensure every step of the process is functioning effectively to avoid costly delays and lost sales opportunities
Management
Build a team of agile, "can do", people with experience in multinational sourcing, managing third party logistics, forecasting demand, and ensuring quality
Launch, foster, and grow a culture within your team that's entrepreneurial: relishes the unknown, a focus on rapid ideation and nimble execution—staying ahead of the competition, breaking paradigms, learning from mistakes, and requiring critical feedback.
Provide effective leadership, direction and coaching to direct and indirect reports including, but not limited to, delegating, staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations and terminationsWork alongside NAM MS leaders to develop the company's business plan, including strategic sourcing and procurement, vendor management, materials management, logistics, and SOPs.
Establish a reliable network of manufacturing and logistics operating partners to ensure reliable and effective end-to-end supply chain execution of the company's products in line with customers' expectations for on-time deliveryWork collectively with the corporate finance team to create baseline budgets for all core departmental functions and function as the primary owner for overseeing monthly, quarterly, and annual results
Required Skills/Abilities
Lean Six Sigma/Continuous Improvement methodologies. Ability to critically think and be experienced in the use of problem solving and other 6 sigma tools
Strategic thinker with confidence and speed in execution
Ability to solve complex problems & to reach & implement solutions
Strong communication and presentation skills to influence external & internal Stakeholders, often at senior levels
Knowledge of commercial contract language and structuring
High EH&S standards and proven experience with safety improvements

Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree, Master's in Procurement, Business, Sales or Marketing, or Chemical engineering with strong commercial affinity
MBA preferred
Minimum of 10 years' experience in Procurement &/or Supply Chain/Logistics roles, ideally within the chemical/process or allied industries, with recent experience in a materially similar, senior level position
5+ years of people leadership experience (10+ person organization) with hands-on and strategic management of objectives
Physical Requirements
