    At Raya, Staff/Principal/Lead/Architect Backend Engineers love backend engineering and have been recognized as leaders in past roles You are excited to work in a Node codebase. The ideal candidate will have had 3 or 4+ years of experience at at least two companies and grown within those organizations, demonstrating both loyalty results and leadership. You will join the backend team at the early stages of the company and will have all the excitement and accountability that comes from joining a fast growing, well funded startupYou will join the backend team at an impactful time of high growth.

    As a Backend Software Engineer you'll drive the technological advancements of our Connection and Communication platforms within the Raya App. Leveraging next-gen technologies, your work will be central to delivering products that members across the globe use and value every day. We prioritize learning and teamwork and love giving people the opportunity to champion solutions to big challenges and grow into better versions of themselves. A great candidate is excited to support the backend team's initiatives in messaging, connecting, and location based maps initiatives among other areas. They are diligent and design software architecture in a scalable, evidence-based manner.     Responsibilties

  • Product Ownership: Lead key components of our Core Services, including People Recommendations Engines
  • Data Engineering: Apply your in-depth knowledge with databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and ElasticSearch to supercharge our application's performance and reliability
  • Collaboration: Work hand-in-hand with cross-functional teams, ranging from UX designers to data scientists, ensuring our solutions are comprehensive and user-focused
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest in Raya's tech ecosystem, ensuring our solutions are scalable, maintainable, and innovative
  • User-Centric Development: Prioritize and advocate for top-tier user experiences, utilizing feedback loops and data-driven methodologies to define and refine product features
  • Operational Excellence: Navigate the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), ensuring agile methodologies, CI/CD practices, and Raya's best practices are integrated into all development phases

    Qualifications

  • A BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Software Engineering or a related technical field (Professional Experience can be substituted for candidates with non-engineering educational backgrounds or experience with software-specific training courses/programs)
  • 6+ years of hands-on experience in modern software development environments, with a track record of delivering scalable and maintainable systems
  • Demonstrated expertise in system design, architecture, and mastery in at least one software programming language, ex. Javascript, Golang, Python, C++, etc.
  • Strong collaborative instincts, emphasizing open communication, transparency, and cross-team interaction

    Desired Qualifications

  • Eagerness to explore emerging technologies and their applicability in the Raya ecosystem
  • Prior experience or a strong interest in integrating ML/AI models into software solutions, given our deep collaborations with ML Engineers and Data Scientists
  • Experience with software development frameworks and platforms (e.g., React, Angular, , Spring Boot)
  • Knowledge of version control systems, especially Git
  • Understanding of software development methodologies (e.g., Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform)
  • Knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) tools (e.g., Github Actions, Jenkins, CircleCI)
  • Understanding of unit testing, integration testing, and related frameworks and tools
  • Knowledge of application security best practices and secure coding
