    Job Description and Duties

    Limited Term 12 months; may be extended up to 24 months or become permanent.


    A Clinical Psychologist, Intern evaluates inmates admitted to the program; provides crisis intervention, individual and group psychotherapy; participates in Interdisciplinary Team evaluations and treatment planning; and consults with the Clinical Case Manager, the psychiatrist and custody staff.

    The Clinical Psychologist, Intern also participates in staff meetings, may provide supervision and training to students and participates in program evaluation and research including consultations on research design and data analysis.

    REQUIREMENTS (MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS):


    Graduation from college and enrollment in and completion of at least one year of a postgraduate program leading to the Doctoral Degree in Psychology (clinical specialty) in a university department of psychology of recognized standing; or possession of the Doctoral Degree in Psychology from a university department of psychology of recognized standing with sufficient graduate course work for clinical specialization.

    PRE-REQUISITES


    • 250 hours of assessment experience.
    • 800 hours of direct client service gained through a practicum experience in settings appropriate for a doctoral level psychology intern prior to starting the internship.
    • Acquired practicum experience at two independent sites.

    Candidates new to CDCR or the Division of Juvenile Justice are required to submit to a background investigation process utilizing Live Scan Fingerprinting, and Tuberculosis testing prior to appointment followed by department annual Tuberculosis testing/evaluation thereafter.
