    Inly School is an independent PreK–8 Montessori-plus School located in Scituate, MA, 25 miles south of Boston. It has a student population of approximately 340 students, 76 employees, and serves 20 towns on the South Shore.

    Inly School actively seeks faculty, families and leadership who embrace and practice skills that reflect our Montessori core values of collaboration, respect, compassion and empathy.

    Inly School seeks an experienced professional to serve as Upper School Director beginning in July 2024.


    Key Duties and Responsibilities:

    Mission and Leadership:
    Serve as a leader within the School, congruent with the School's mission and vision

    Responsible for all aspects of the day-to-day operation of the Upper School (grades 4–8)

    Be a visible presence in all areas of the School

    Collaborate with the Lower School Director in the development and assessment of programming and curriculum related to all aspects of student life, school culture, academic, social-emotional support, community, and service-learning in grades toddler–8

    Work with the Lower School Director to lead the faculty in creating and administering professional development activities related to the program from toddler through grade 8


    Faculty:
    Lead the Upper School faculty in the creation and administration of curriculum, pedagogy, support, and all other matters related to the educational program

    Foster and maintain a positive Upper School faculty culture focused on student experience and student success

    Co-facilitate the Educational Leadership team meetings with the Lower School Director

    Collaborating with the Lower School Director, oversee the alignment of curriculum and programs that work vertically throughout the School— Learning Services and Co-Curricular Programs

    Coordinate, schedule, oversee and evaluate the Co-Curricular team

    Regularly meet with Upper School faculty; provide guidance, supervision, and evaluation using the Folio platform

    Oversee the reporting process for all Upper School students' progress reports

    Communicate with Upper School Parents and Caregivers on an individual and group basis to provide clarity and understanding of the Upper School experience and expectations

    Monitor student learning and progress; collaborate with faculty and Learning Services to coordinate resources to meet individual student needs

    Lead Level team meetings for Upper Elementary and Middle School programs

    Coaching and evaluating direct report teachers to support their professional growth


    Students and Families:
    Articulating and addressing the philosophy and content of the Upper School educational program to parents and other constituents, through written communication and in public forums

    Manage communication with parents and caretakers to provide clarity and understanding of Upper School

    Attend parent conferences on student progress, as needed

    Promote established guidelines for Upper School student conduct


    Other duties:
    Serve on the administrative team, actively participating in strategic planning and decision-making to ensure the School operates efficiently and effectively

    Proactively work in partnership with Admissions, Enrollment Management, Finance, and Communications colleagues, to ensure the success of the School's goals

    In partnership with the Director of Inclusion and Instruction and the Lower School Director, ensure that Inly's hiring practices and retention practices foster a culture of equity, inclusion, and belonging

    Work directly with the Registrar to build the school and student schedules annually

    Collaborate with the Manager of Secondary School Placement on the application and placement process for graduating students

    Submit and report on annual goals and objectives for the Upper School


    Strong Candidates will have:
    Master's Degree

    Minimum five years of teaching experience (preferably in grades 4–8)with a minimum of three years of leadership or managerial experience

    An eagerness to embrace multicultural perspectives with experience building an inclusive environment and a commitment to anti-bias teaching practices.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills

    Experience in building and maintaining strong teams

    Demonstrated experience in Project Based Learning

    Critical thinking skills and the ability to problem-solve

    Understanding of differentiated and developmentally based models of teaching and learning (Montessori a plus, but not required)

    Understanding of new educational models and best practices in education

    Initiative to work independently and make decisions routinely

    Excellent organizational skills; ability to establish and manage multiple priorities; ability to work under pressure

    Ability to work in a team

    Ability to maintain strict confidentiality

    Physical Involvement:
    The role regularly involves lifting items, including children, weighing up to 30 pounds. This aspect of the job is crucial for supporting the physical care and educational activities of our students.


    Outdoor Activities Engagement:
    Our curriculum incorporates daily outdoor activities, requiring you to work in various weather conditions. This aspect of the role is instrumental in promoting outdoor learning and appreciation among our students.
