- Design, develop, maintain, improve, and support software and other technical solutions that solve business challenges requiring the export and import of healthcare data in different formats.
- Develop and maintain automated tests and other observability solutions to drive uptime and minimize outages.
- Participate in code reviews, retrospectives, and responsible for producing documentation for deployed integrations.
- Create querying and retrieval components and interfaces, HL7 integration, enrichment and transformation components to seamlessly connect healthcare systems.
- Develop software interfaces between healthcare, third party, and other relevant external entities.
- Support the design and maintenance of scalable interoperability solutions and infrastructure from core HL7 integrators like Mirth to APIs and other cloud services (we are an AWS shop currently).
- Analyze information to determine, recommend, and plan modifications and adjustments as needed for optimum performance and transfer of data with internal and external partners.
- Ensure compliance with organization standards for system configuration and submit documentation for change control.
- Serve as primary HL7 healthcare interoperability subject matter expert for educating internal Data Services platform team.
- Represent the top tier escalation point for troubleshooting HL7 support issues within the interoperability environment.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Four-year university degree or college diploma in the field of computer science, information systems, business or related field desired.
- Seven (7) years of relevant healthcare interoperability experience.
- Advanced experience in EHR and/or healthcare-related data, standards, modeling and transformations.
- Experience with clinical data table structure, storage, relationships, and maintenance.
- Experience implementing HL7 and API interfaces, prior experience with Mirth and AWS cloud services a plus.
- Experience with healthcare technologies like Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resource (FHIR) a plus but not required.
- Self-motivated with ability to prioritize multiple objectives under tight deadlines and ability to work independently with little to no oversight.

Description
The Healthcare Interoperability Engineer is a key role within the Data Services & Interoperability team supporting the execution of MedQuest Associate's enterprise integration needs.
In this role you will design, build, test, maintain, and support solutions that bridge MedQuest operational systems with a number of external healthcare providers, their EHRs, as well as other tertiary systems.
As a fast-growing enterprise comprising the full healthcare patient lifecycle this role will be exposed to many different integration scenarios and expected to take an interoperability approach that bears business needs, security, resilient architectural vision, and end-user expectations in mind.
