Description
Heritage Hall, a private Preschool - grade 12 day school of 900 students located in Oklahoma City, seeks a full-time Associate Director of College Counseling.
The Associate Director of College Counseling helps students identify colleges of interest, supports students in completing their applications, writes thoughtful letters of recommendation, advocates appropriately for students, serves as a resource for parents, and participates in professional organizations, conferences, and college visit programs, both on and off-campus.
This 10-month position reports directly to the Director of College Counseling and begins in August 2024.Responsibilities:
Work closely with the Director of College Counseling to serve the needs of the Heritage Hall community;
Advise students and their families as they move through the college research, application, and selection process;
Write letters of recommendation;
Execute on-campus programs and workshops for parents, students, and college
admissions representatives;
Advise students on course selection and consequences in the college application process;
Stay abreast of current issues and trends related to college admission, financial
aid, and gap year programs;
Prepare regular mailings and electronic communication to parents in tandem with
the communications to staff;
Oversee seniors' progress as they finalize college lists and send off applications;
Visit college campuses to establish and maintain mutually beneficial
relationships with college admission staff;
Represent Heritage Hall at national and regional conferences;
Work with advisors and coaches to help students through the athletic
recruitment process;
Maintain the College Counseling website and grade-level portals;
Work with the Director to update the school profile each year;
Provide key constituents with relevant testing and college application statistics;
Assist in administering the school's SCOIR account;
Serve as the Heritage Hall liaison with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation;
Engage actively in the Heritage Hall community, including attending student
performances, athletics events, social activities, and serving as an advisor.
Serve as Standardized Testing Coordinator and use test results to aid the Dean of Academic Counseling with course selections for students.

Qualifications
Desirable attributes include, but are not limited to, the following:
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's degree, with a graduate degree preferred, along with at least three years of relevant experience in college admissions and/or college counseling
A detail-oriented approach to work and outstanding communication skills including writing, listening, and public speaking
The ability to work collaboratively with the administration, faculty, and other key members of the Heritage Hall community
The energy, patience, and sense of humor necessary to work effectively with high school students and their families
Proficiency in Google platforms and the ability to learn additional software such as SCOIR
