    The Opportunity:

    The Sr. Manager of PR & Global Brand Communications will join a dynamic team that supports Mattel's Global Brand Team products and programs with best-in-class communications strategies that create maximum value for the company. The position is located in El Segundo, California and reports to the Vice President PR & Global Brands Communication. This position is responsible for creating and executing public relations campaigns specifically across for our Vehicles and Action Figures portfolios as well as supporting pan-Mattel programming across the year. Working alongside the Vice President, PR & Global Brand Communications team, the Sr. Manager will work closely with multiple cross-functional partners including marketing, promotions, design, and legal teams, and licensors/licensees. This role will assist in creative and impactful storytelling to strengthen brand reputation. This role will also work closely and lead external agencies in the implementation of campaigns, as well as all the associated day-to-day activities utilizing internal and external resources in the development of materials, execute media relations and marketing strategies designed to generate positive brand/product publicity, crisis management and measure effectiveness of communications of campaigns by analyzing results and reporting findings. The role will also be responsible for managing agency support teams employed by Mattel.

    What Your Impact Will Be:
    • Drive all aspects of PR and global communications campaigns. Collaborate and partner with marketing, promotions, design, and legal teams, and when appropriate licensors/licensees, to create, process and approve materials and plans designed to communicate brand initiatives, as well as generate publicity, by leveraging press and other earned platforms.
    • Create effective pitch points and develop messaging documents to brief Brand executives to use as their platform for interviews and speaking opportunities.
    • Manage external speaking opportunities and press extensions.
    • Support executive social media posts as relates to Mattel products and programming.
    • Successfully manage complex, fast-moving and unexpected communications challenges.
    • Oversee media relations including maintaining regular contact with trade, industry, business, entertainment and consumer journalists, external experts and influencers, and helping to coordinate major press moments for the company.
    • Create forward looking plans and handle various details around tentpole marketing programs, supporting partner management, internal partners and external PR agencies.
    • Utilize internal and external resources in the development of materials, own media relations and consult on social media & influencer strategies designed to generate positive brand/product publicity.
    • Measure the effectiveness of communications campaigns to gain insights around results, inform reporting of findings to brand teams, and implement learnings to future campaign strategies.
    • Oversee and manage budgets.
    Qualifications

    What We're Looking For:
    • An interest and passion for purposeful impact in children's lives around the world
    • Bachelor's Degree preferably in Journalism, Communications, Marketing or Public Relations
    • Minimum of 8+ years of PR experience, preferably in an agency or in-house CPG company
    • A solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to perform and complete tasks in partnership with the Global Brand Communications team and cross-functional partners in an efficient and high-quality manner
    • Strong teamwork skills and flexibility to pivot quickly when necessary
    • Excellent writing and communications skills, as well as flawless editing skills with an attention to detail
    • Ability to persuade, influence and articulate messaging to key opinion leaders across various mediums
    • Candidate must have the ability to efficiently handle and time-manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment, adapt to shifting priorities and be very detail-oriented
    • Candidate must display good interpersonal skills, including a positive, cooperative attitude - both inside and outside the department
    • Demonstrate strong interest and understanding of pop culture, social, traditional media and the toy industry
    The annual base salary range for this position is between $140,000 and $175,000.
    **This range is indicative of projected hiring range, however annual base salary will be determined based on a candidate's work location, skills and experience.
