Business Development ManagerPPG IndustriesPittsburgh PennsylvaniaThe Business Development Manager (BDM) role is a newly created position reporting to the Global Technical Director of Research & Development within the Corporate S&T organization.
This role is created to support dedicated technology and market development platforms, focused on delivering new revenue growth from new customers in new end-markets.
This business development function within Corporate S&T will staff multiple BDMs at a time to build out opportunity pipelines and deliver upon customer conversion targets set forth by the Global Technical Director - Corporate S&T and the Director of Corporate Strategy.
Each BDM will be assigned a specific growth incubator platform and will be paired up with a dedicated technical team lead with assigned technical resources to support the specific market development activities.
Project management resources will also support each BDM to manage customer interactions along with finance support to build sound financial projections/models.
The BDM role acts globally, across technology and market segments to support PPG's organic growth most effectively.He/she will be responsible for building their specific opportunity pipeline (in targeted technology or market segments) and execute against it.
This role will work very closely with Corporate Strategy and the SBU advocates to ensure that late-stage opportunities are handed off to SBUs for back-end execution.
The BDM will regularly communicate with SBUs and Corporate S&T leadership and lead forums to provide critical pipeline updates.Each growth incubator platform opportunity pipeline at maturity will target YOY >$100 MM in new revenue (EBIT margin > 50%) from customer conversion / pipeline execution, starting in year 2 of platform formation.
This will require building out a multi-billion-dollar pipeline of potential downstream customer conversions. This BDM is expected to remain dedicated for min.5 years to establish a strong operating model, develop new market/customer intimacy and deliver upon the growth targets set forth.
