    About the Role

    We are looking for a forward-thinking Chief Executive Officer to lead CNNSSA and MOWFNI. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with a successful track record in the nonprofit sector. As the face of our organization, the CEO should be a strong communicator and advocate for the communities we serve. They will be responsible for program development, setting new strategic directions, becoming a thought leader, and playing a key role in fundraising efforts. Working with a dedicated team, the CEO will promote a culture of excellence, diversity, equity, and continuous improvement.

    About Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association

    Community Nutrition Network and Senior Services Association (CNNSSA), along with Meals on Wheels Foundation of Northern Illinois (MOWFNI), focus on keeping seniors and individuals with disabilities happy, healthy, and connected to their communities by addressing hunger and food insecurity. Our goal is to provide over 1 million meals to nearly 10,000 seniors in 2024.

    Operating a home-delivery meal program across suburban Cook County, Grundy County, Kendall County, and Will County, numerous community cafes, and with the help of volunteers, CNNSSA is one of the largest nonprofit senior meal providers in the country. MOWFNI, a 501(c)3 organization, supports fundraising and community outreach efforts for CNNSSA.

    Both organizations operate collaboratively under CNNSSA.

    Be a Voice and Leader in the Sector

    Contribute to discussions on senior hunger and food insecurity and influence policies at local, state, and national levels. As the CEO, you will have a platform to share your knowledge, insights, and vision with a broad audience.

    Impact the Lives of Chicagoland's Seniors

    Your work at CNNSSA will directly benefit vulnerable individuals in Chicagoland. The initiatives you lead will address critical needs within the community every day.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership and Strategy

    • Advocate for CNNSSA, engage with stakeholders, and establish a strong presence within the community.
    • Lead the organization, ensure alignment with the mission, and create a positive work environment.
    • Work with the board to schedule meetings and enhance fundraising efforts.
    • Develop a financial strategy in collaboration with the board for organizational stability.
    • Manage staffing levels, empower and motivate employees, and evaluate team structure.
    • Oversee HR policies, fundraising activities, and ensure regulatory compliance.
    • Provide guidance on budget management, volunteer retention, and annual goals.

    Community Engagement and Outreach

    • Represent CNNSSA to stakeholders, build strong relationships, and advocate for the organization and those served.
    • Position CNNSSA as an authority in senior nutrition through various engagements.
    • Implement community engagement strategies in alignment with the organization's mission.
    • Communicate successes externally to enhance the organization's reputation.

    Program Development and Management

    • Plan and oversee meal programs, expand services, and focus on underserved populations.
    • Maintain relationships with grant agencies, stay informed on community needs, and seek partnerships.
    • Manage funding sources effectively and break down internal barriers for efficiency.

    Financial Oversight and Fundraising

    • Enhance donor outreach, ensure financial sustainability, and propose budgets.
    • Analyze financial impacts of new initiatives and cultivate a culture of philanthropy.
    • Manage the transition to paid drivers for service continuity.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum five years experience in nonprofit management at a senior level.
    • Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred, with expertise in finance, human resources, and board engagement.
    • Strong communication skills, fundraising experience, and knowledge of government funding.
    • Proven track record in fundraising and advocacy.
    • Ability to travel and work flexible hours.

    Compensation and Benefits

    Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package, including retirement plans, insurance, and generous leave. Diversity is valued, and all are encouraged to apply.

    Salary range: $150,000-$175,000, based on experience.
