First-year programming, as a means for improved retention, marks a critical new line of operations in the program.

The coordinator is responsible for working closely with this cohort by communicating the vision of Honors to students, by disseminating information about the pathway options, and by enrolling students in the Adobe portfolio platform.

Additionally, the coordinator plans future advising sessions with students at critical junctures in their experience.

The coordinator administers an entrance survey at the point of enrollment, maintains these records, and presents them during staff discussions aimed at continually improving operations within the program.

Further, the coordinator administers to each graduating student an exit survey. These duties significantly advance a culture in the program that values and prioritizes data in decision-making.

    Recruitment & Retention

The coordinator plans, organizes, and enacts an effective vision of recruitment and retention efforts through authentic, inclusive forms of belonging for all students.

All recruitment efforts integrate with retention and advising efforts for a comprehensive, holistic approach.

The coordinator demonstrates knowledge of current, emerging trends in recruitment and retention efforts in higher-education and in Honors specific settings.

The coordinator is informed regarding current research in best practices related to intercultural competencies, an area of expertise that aligns with and advances key campus outcomes related to the diminishment of barriers and achievement gaps.

The coordinator works closely with the director and the staff admin to recruit and retain traditionally underrepresented students. The coordinator supervises efforts by the part-time staff member to recruit from local high schools.
