Dolores Shelter Program (DSP) has offered assistance to homeless people from this country and others since 1982, fulfilling its mission to target the community in the Mission area.
Martha, Maria, Ana, and Jazzie's Place- The first LGBTQIA Adult Shelter in the country. Our sites operate 365 days a year. Our staff provides direct services as well as referrals to other programs and services.
Our greatest challenge is to help our participants break the cycle of homelessness that affects so many people in our city.
Position Summary:
The Site Coordinator works closely with the Program Director to oversee a team Lead Shelter Monitors, Shelter Monitors, and a Care Coordinator.
The team monitors the safety and well-being of guests at the site, conducting regular wellness checks, supporting guest needs, and providing regular food service.
Core responsibilities of the Site Coordinator include training new staff, organize staff meetings, provide direct supervision to Lead Shelter Monitors, supporting any staff issues, coordinating schedules and coverage, and maintaining communication with city partners to coordinate services related to food service, facilities, janitorial, and security.
This position requires flexibility and will demand some nights and weekends.Key Responsibilities
:
Provide direct supervision and support to a team of Lead Shelter Monitors, each of whom supervise a team of Shelter Monitors.
Train all new staff, ensuring that all team members perform the responsibilities of their positions.
Organize team meetings with all staff to provide training and to review staff responsibilities, policies and procedures, and best practices.
Check timesheet daily to ensure that all staff enter their hours correctly using the organization's iSolved system.Ensure that all staff and guests follow COVID-19 precautions as per guidance by SFDPH. Follow appropriate protocol when staff or guests are exposed to COVID-19.
Communicate directly with staff and SF city departments to coordinate logistics related to building maintenance, janitorial, food service, and security.
Provide support to client-related issues, using de-escalation, harm reduction, and conflict resolution techniques.Manage and support crisis intervention and critical incidents, completing the appropriate steps to support the well-being of both guests and staff.
Establish a client-centered and trauma-informed team approach that assists clients with exiting homelessness and accessing safe and dignified housing.Other Organizational Duties

Knowledge, Skills
,
and Abilities:
Background in and passion for working with low-income and immigrant communities around issues of affordable housing, land use, and/or immigrant & worker rights; familiarity with these issues in the Mission District and San Francisco, highly desired.
An understanding of intersectionality and the needs of communities impacted by homelessness in San Francisco, particularly in the Mission District.
A strong commitment to housing justice, as well as inclusive and multi-cultural programming. Demonstratedknowledge/experience
working with individuals experiencing homelessness.
3 or more years of direct client experience, preferably within housing and shelter programs.
At least 2 years of experiencing managing other team members.
Bilingual (written and oral) in Spanish preferred.
Experience with crisis intervention, establishing boundaries, conflict resolution, and de-escalation.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Ability to work both independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team.
Proficiency with basic computer programs including Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel.
