    About the Sun-Times

    In January 2022, the Sun-Times merged with public radio station WBEZ with a shared mission to strengthen local journalism in Chicago.

    The opportunity:
    This position is responsible for ensuring that Sun-Times is in position to capitalize on home delivery and single copy sales through solid data analysis, customer problem solutions, and

    reporting.


    Analyze complex business problems using data from multiple internal systems and external sources to provide insight to decision-makers, while maintaining data integrity.

    Use intuition and experience to resolve operational issues on the fly
    Further creation/development of routine and ad hoc reports
    Manage initiatives that focus on driving new projects, process improvements, and reporting enhancements for operations leaders
    Proficiency in all Circulation systems
    Understand consumer trends and make recommendations on promotions based on that understanding

    The qualifications:

    4 years of college or 1-3 years related experiences or equivalent combination of experience and education
    Strong communication skills and the ability to participate in a collaborative team environment
    Be proficient or have a strong working knowledge of Python, SQL, Javascript or Scala
    Excellent problem-solving abilities
    Basic understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirement


    Nice to Have:
    Domain expertise in one or more of the following areas: Python, SQL, Javascript or Scala
    Previous experience in news media organizations
    Understanding of web technologies including HTML / CSS /
