Position Summary:

The Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach/Football Sports Science Coordinator will assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive Sports Science protocol that objectively tracks and monitors the Football Student-Athletes.

In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for implementing the comprehensive Football Strength & Conditioning program under the guidance of the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach, as well as other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics, the Assistant AD for Sports Medicine, or the Head Strength and Conditioning coach.

The ideal candidate will have experience working with Division 1 athletes, particularly football athletes and will have experience working on athlete management programs to ensure athletes have the proper training to perform at a high level.

Workplace Requirements:

This position is exclusively on-site, necessitating all duties to be performed in-person on campus during both regular office hours, mornings, nights, and weekends as team schedule requires.

This position will require regular travel. Per Rice policy 440, work arrangements may be subject to change.

TBD

Exempt (salaried) positions under FLSA are not eligible for overtime.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in related field
1 year of experience in strength and conditioning coaching or working as a sports coach
Must possess (or have the ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire) and maintain a valid Texas driver's license with no more than three moving violations and/or at fault accidents within the past 36 months, and no convictions or deferred dispositions for Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) or Driving Under the Influence (DUI) within the past five years
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) or Strength and Conditioning Coach Certified (SCCC).
Required to have/obtain within 30 days of hire CPR and AED Certification.

Skills:

Demonstrated success in Catpult GPS tracking, Force Plate applications, preferably on the Vald Platform.
Knowledge of NCAA legislation and participating conference bylaws, and compliance guidelines related to a sports program
Able to motivate athletes to perform at peak ability
Highly organized, good time management, and sound judgment
Good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people in a diverse community
Ability to multi-task and work well in a team setting or individual setting
Ability to work in a high-pressure environment
Adaptable and supportive of a changing work environment
Creative and forward thinking

Preferences:

Master's degree in physical education, health, or related field
Functional Movement Systems - Level 1 Certification

Essential Functions:

Oversees, manages, and conducts all essential testing of Football Student-Athletes.
Implement training programs for the football team and other assigned teams under the direction of the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach.
Assist with cleanliness protocols for the Patterson Sports Performance Center Weight Room.
Develop team and athlete specific training programs.
Other duties as assigned.
