The UHD Scholars Academy is dedicated to undergraduate academic excellence and success in science, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We undertake many strategies to ensure each scholar's success.

One is STEM Facilitator support from some of our more experienced scholars who exhibit the academic ability and leadership qualities of role models for other scholars to emulate, working collaboratively with Scholars Academy Faculty Mentors and staff.

These leaders serve as role models, advocates, and knowledgeable guides to our scholars.


DUTIES

  • Attends the Scholars Academy Intensive Leadership Training
  • Schedules and coordinates an offcampus group volunteer activity (which needs to be approved by the Scholars Academy Coordinator) for your group and completes a report
  • Works office hours at four to six hours a week, 60 hours a semester, facilitating other students
  • Assists the Scholars Academy staff with all SA events as needed
  • Completes a STEM Facilitator Report at the end of each semester
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Current fulltime UHD student preferred
  • Maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred
  • Must be a current member of the Scholars Academy or have permission of Executive Director in Scholars Academy and/or Mitsue Nakamura
  • Must Meet with Dr. Mary Jo Parker and/or Mitsue Nakamura for recommendation requirements for the position
