    Job Overview:
    Reporting to the Vice President of Education & the National Director of Career Services.

    Assistant Director, Career Services at the Institute of Culinary Education (ICE) plays a crucial role in overseeing and enhancing the delivery of career services at ICE's campuses.

    This position is responsible for managing the local career services team, developing strategic partnerships with industry leaders, and ensuring that career planning and development initiatives meet the needs and aspirations of students across our award-winning culinary, baking arts, hospitality, business management, and sommelier training programs.

    The Career Services team manages students through externships and job placement.

    This is a multi-faceted role that requires an understanding of how the employment trends and skillset needs of the hospitality industry engage with our student's goals and expectations.

    To be successful this position will require direct interaction with students and senior leadership across departments, as well as directly managing a team of dedicated career services representatives and support staff at ICE's local campus.

    An ideal Assistant Director, Career Services) will inspire the career services department as a whole as well as offer one-on-one guidance for individual reps to ensure they are performing at maximum capacity while hitting clear goals as a team. This requires a personality that is self-motivated, outgoing, organized, process-minded and business driven.


    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lead the campus career services team, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to career services staff.
    • Establish a departmental culture of outgoing, proactive goal-oriented achievers. The mission is to strive for a 100% graduation rate and a 100% employment rate – we owe it to each student.
    • Identify and promote alumni successes both internally and externally to raise the profile and awareness of ICE graduate successes.
    • Implement and adapt national career services strategies at the campus level, ensuring alignment with overall institutional goals.
    • Develop strong, collegial relationships with industry partners to ensure that students and alumni have a deep resource pool for career, job and externship opportunities.
    • Keep constant vigilance over career services reps employment and externship placement metrics.
    • Oversee the planning and execution of career development programs and externship placements, enhancing student career readiness and employment outcomes.
    • Collaborate with campus instructors and administrative staff to tailor career services to meet the evolving needs of students and academic programs.
    • Monitor and report on key metrics and outcomes related to student career services, maintaining compliance with accreditation and regulatory standards.
    • Manage the operational budget for the career services department, ensuring resources are effectively utilized to achieve department goals.
    • Coordinate Program Advisory Committee meetings with academic department.
    • Coordinate with the National Director of Career Services to develop policies, procedures, and best practices for enhancing career services across campuses.
    • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to support and work effectively within a team.
    • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Strong knowledge of the career fields of interest to students in the culinary and hospitality fields, including restaurants, hotels, and other foodservice sectors.
    • Strong communication skills to interact positively with students, staff, and industry partners.
    • Initiative and drive to support ongoing projects and meet deadlines.

    ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITES:

    • Maintains standard management information and official statistics for internal and external reporting
    • Collect data for requisite periodic reports and studies as required for institutional reporting. Writes and/or edits text for special reports and/or studies,
    • Other duties as required
    • A love of the Culinary/Hospitality industry
    • An outgoing personality that can build rapport and trust quickly with employers, students, and staff.
    • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
    • Two to four years of experience in human resource recruitment/placement or career services, student services, or related area.
    • Understanding of career counseling principles, marketing strategies, and current employment trends.
