Eligible for $10,000 Recruitment BonusThe Medical Specialties unit (5 South) is a 20 bed inpatient unit. Medical Specialties is a fast-paced, dynamic area of nursing care. This unit carries a large volume of patients daily.
This unit allows nurses to care for a variety of patients across the lifespan (ages 18 and up), who have had or could potentially have orthopedic surgery.
The vast variety of medical and surgical patients that nurses care for allows for great opportunities for personal growth and continuing education.
Specialized training will be provided to care for this patient population.Nursing on this unit must exhibit exceptional teamwork and communication skills, and the unit offers a very supportive environment for new nurses.
Through the nursing career ladder program, nursing is encouraged to grow not only at the bedside, but also develop professionally with unit-based practice and system-wide quality improvement initiatives.

Summary
The Registered Nurse (RN) 3 is a proficient nurse who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating nursing care for a group of population specific patients for the department/unit, from simple to complex, with multi-system issues in a safe and therapeutic environment.
The RN uses knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span, assesses data reflective of the patient's status and interprets information needed to identify each patients requirements relative to his/her age specific needs.
The RN engages in caring relationships with patient's, families, and significant others, works collaboratively with other health care workers, and uses sound judgments while performing nursing and medical interventions.
The RN adheres to specialty standards and organizational standards, policies, procedures, guidelines and protocols. Reports to the Director and/or Nurse Manager. May participate in supervision of Licensed Nursing Assistants and unlicensed personnel.Education
Graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, BSN preferred.
