- Manage budget and forecast models and processes, including compiling, analyzing, and partnering with business leaders and Global financial consolidations teams.
- Perform month-end close activities including consolidations of financial results, financial reporting related to R&D OPEX/CAPEX including variance analysis against budget and forecast.
- Review of business cases for potential new products, including pressuring assumptions from business partners by underwriting for logic and consistency including between other business cases for; pricing, forecasted sales, investment outlay, and incremental operating expenses.
- Sensitivity analysis for potential new products, including; Sales, EBIT, and financial return metrics like NPV and IRR.
- Develop R&D KPIs and benchmarks to improve decision-making process.
- Interpret and apply corporate financial policies, government legislation, and accounting theory.
- Work with accounting department and project managers to capitalize and maintain the assets under construction and fixed asset accounts as they relate to R&D.
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or Economics.
- 5-7 years of finance and accounting experience in a complex environment including 2+ years managing others.
- Fluency in Chinese (Mandarin) is highly preferred.
- CPA preferred.
- Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, GAAP accounting, financial analysis processes, and financial operations.
- Knowledge of SAP, consolidation applications, and Business Intelligence reporting systems.
- Experience preparing financial statements, financial modeling, forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Outstanding communicator (oral and written) and creative thinker, with an ability to use both data, input, and intuition to inform decisions.
- Experience with change management in the areas of processes and systems.
- Extensive experience in Microsoft Office software required, including high proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
- Results-Driven: Having a proactive, goal-oriented approach to decision making. A clear and strategic thinker with proven experience in translating strategies into actionable plans. Capable of handling multiples projects / initiatives simultaneously and executing to completion.

- Be willing to travel up to 5% domestic and international travel.
- This role is eligible to work remotely with weekly trips into the Northridge, CA office as scheduled or requested (this could be on 24-hour notice).

- The standard base salary range for this position is $118, $145,

About the Role
The Manager, Finance - GPLM and R&D is responsible for financial planning, analysis, cost controllership, and providing financial leadership for the global R&D and GPLM (Global Product Line Management) organizations within the Professional Solutions Division of Harman International. This role will be working closely with Pro management to provide insight into the financial results for the two functions and PRO brands (ie, JBL, AKG, Crown). This position requires good controllership, ability to work in global environment, and strategic thinking and cross functional collaboration for new product assessments. This position is based in Northridge, CA.
Your Team
This role will manage an organization of three (3) people who are based in Shenzhen, China. As this role is based in California the standard hours are PST, however, some flexibility is needed to support the global nature of the R&D finance team.
