Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Business Unit Financial Planning, Reporting, and Analysis Manager to join us in the pursuit of top-tier financial performance in the Advanced Weapon Business Unit.

The position is based out of based out of Northridge, CA and will report to the Business Unit Director of Business Management.

Responsibilities and essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage a small team of analysts and to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the Oversee monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial closes, including assigned journal entries, accruals, and overall maintenance of general-ledger accounts
  • Manage the Accounting Functions of General Ledger, AR, AP, Cost Accounting, Fixed Assets, Payroll and Tax
  • Development of the consolidated Long Range Strategic Plan and Annual Operating Plan
  • Support Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance
  • Work with the finance, scheduling, and business management teams to develop strategies to improve portfolio financial performance based on metrics
  • Internal and external audit support
  • Support the development of presentations for, and occasionally brief to, Division/Sector/Corporate leadership
  • Modeling and analytics support for business development pipeline reviews, business management annual operating plan analysis and investment planning
  • Interface with business, program, and corporate personnel
  • Interface with geographically disbursed business, program, and sector personnel
  • Support initiatives and ad hoc requests from Division, Sector, and Corporate leadership

Basic Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Mathematics, or related discipline with a minimum of 7 years applicable experience, or Master's degree and 5 years applicable experience.
  • Experience with CostPoint, IBM Cognos software (or another similar software), database software
  • Expertise in financial statement preparation, reporting, and analysis
  • Prior experience with Financial Planning and Reporting including supporting monthly actuals and forecasts, Annual Operating Plans, and Long-Range Strategic Plans
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word and PowerPoint)
  • Working knowledge of FAR/DFARS
  • Prior experience in the Aerospace & Defense industry environment
  • Ability to comprehend and analyze complex problems and develop solutions
  • Must be able to work onsite in Northridge, California

Preferred Qualifications:


  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite

Public Accounting experience (each year of "Big 4" or relevant Public Accounting experience counts for 2 years of experience above)

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or actively pursuing licensure.
  • Strong GAAP accounting proficiency and research experience
  • Selfmotivated, yet functions well in a team environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and a keen attention to detail

Salary Range:
$125,500 - $188,300

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
