    Ghirardelli Associates is currently looking to hire an experienced Outreach Manager. This position will be based out of our Commerce Office. This is an opportunity to work with an experienced team of professionals

    Position Summary

    This position supports the Senior Outreach Manager through management of Outreach Coordinators and Senior Outreach Coordinators by communicating, implementing, and coordinating community outreach activities and services for governmental agencies. The Outreach Manager works with clients to ensure project timeline schedules and goals are achieved. The position reports directly to the Senior Outreach Manager.

    This is an Exempt role. Exempt employees are paid on a salaried basis. Exempt employees are expected to adhere to the standard hours/FTE for the position and the regular work week of the department. Exempt employees are also required to work any hours necessary to perform the duties of the job. Exempt employees generally do not receive overtime, compensatory time, or additional pay for hours worked or travel time outside their regular schedule.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Executes Public Outreach Project Organization and Project Budget.
    • Assists Senior Outreach Manager with development of outreach strategies to effectively meet client needs.
    • Leads the effort to implement approved outreach strategies.
    • Utilizes tools that will measure the success of the Public Outreach Project Organization.
    • Supervises Public Outreach staff and provides training.
    • Plan, organize and manage events for current and potential clients.
    • Maintains client and community relationships.
    • Understands and adjusts to client expectations.
    • Maintains understanding of sensitive and confidential issues.
    • Effectively provides support during community outreach meetings, open house information sessions and other public events, as needed.
    • Responds to public and community inquiries. Tracks and reports issues to Senior Outreach Manager.
    • Implements new public outreach informational materials, presentations and displays for the company.
    • Collaborate with team members and other contractors to support day-to-day activities to ensure projects are progressing according to timelines.
    • Supports cross-functional team meetings and provides status updates regarding project milestones, deliverables, risks, and issues.
    • Participates in goal setting and regular performance reviews of Public Outreach staff.
    • Delegate tasks and responsibilities to Senior Outreach Coordinators and Outreach Coordinators.
    • Professionally communicate with clients and stakeholders via telephone, in writing, and in person.
    • Assist with review of project-specific deliverables as needed.
    • Creates and maintains multiple stakeholder databases.
    • Ability to remain professional when working on controversial issues or projects.
    • Follow business, communication, and competitive trends to gain an understanding of the business environment and make recommendations for our best possible approach to win and retain business.
    • Assists with implementing annual community outreach internship program.
    • Research proposals and supports Outreach business development opportunities.
    • Performs special projects and related duties as assigned by senior staff.
    • Flexibility to occasionally work extended hours or weekends.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Effective written, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to work as part of a team involving staff, clients, and outside agencies.
    • Proficient using Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
    • Knowledge and experience in working with diverse communities throughout California.
    • Knowledge of government structures, agencies, and policies.
    • Experience in providing support at public meetings and other public forums.
    • Advanced organizational and planning skills.
    • Work efficiently with project managers, engineers, and other team members to support project goals, report issues, and meet project timelines.
    • Work collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Basic experience creating engaging displays and public outreach materials.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Five years of experience in community relations, public relations, public affairs, or related field.
    • Experience with supervising a minimum of three staff preferred.
    • Two years of experience in supervising or directing staff in a similar role preferred.
    • Two years of experience working with DTSC. Including experience in all aspects of DTSC outreach activities, including PPU, Canvassing, Dispatch, and Scheduling.
    • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or related field preferred; equivalent work experience will be considered.
    • Fluency in oral and/or written communications of one or more languages, not including English, is preferred.
    • Valid California Driver's License Required.
    • Ability to travel throughout California, as necessary.

The associate frequently is required to use hands. Repetitive reaching, repetitive hand use. Physical agility to perform tasks requiring a full range of body movements including lifting, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, twisting, reaching, balancing, squatting, climbing, crawling, kneeling, or assuming crouched positions, repetitive arm, hand, finger, wrist, leg or foot motion. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
