GENERAL SUMMARY

  • Community Outreach Specialist will help coordinate and execute all education and outreach activities for the Community Development Department. In addition, will increase the departments capacity by recruiting and training volunteers and/or promoters to promote all departments programs and services. The Community Outreach Specialist will also support social media outreach efforts in producing and delivering a range of promotional, educational, & informational presentations with resource materials related to program activities and initiatives._

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:


Community Outreach, Education, and Partnerships

  • Recruit, train, coordinate, and supervise activities for promotors/volunteers to support outreach efforts.
  • Prepare and conduct outreach to all MAOF sites, community members, partners and allies through group or oneonone community presentations (virtual or inperson), meeting facilitation, trainings, phone banking, text banking, door knocking and other outreach approaches.
  • Develop outreach messages, scripts, presentations, lists and database.
  • Facilitate community through focus groups, community meetings, one on one conversations, etc.
  • Work with team to develop, implement and evaluate outreach plans and approaches collaboratively and strategically.
  • Research and evaluate strategies to enhance outreach methods.
  • Remain uptodate on relevant trending topics and issues.
  • Provide information and referrals to the correct services needed.
  • Develop and schedule social media content ? text and visuals ?for various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter) and respond to social media messages on a timely basis.
  • Increase program awareness through all social media platforms and through the CDD monthly newsletter.
  • Develop and manage a volunteer database for the department.
  • Engage with media (radio, local newspaper, social media) to highlight program services.
  • Participate in community meetings such as; coalitions, committees, and other community groups.
  • Plans and coordinates special tasks or events.

Data Evaluation, Collection, and Documentation

  • Create and distribute communitybased tools like surveys and assessments to collect data and create reports based on collected data that highlight health equity priorities as shared by community residents and stakeholders.
  • Collect data (attendance lists, evaluations, etc.) to document the delivery of the services.
  • Maintain accurate, uptodate records and files on all outreach and educational meetings conducted, including any documentation regarding the requirements for eligibility and compliance with services.
  • Conduct thorough research, evaluate data, and compile reports as required by the Program Director.
  • Produce client stories to reflect the project's challenges, needs, and successes.
  • Represent the agency and projects professionally at conferences, meetings and all internal and external events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Ability to train and execute program outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimum of supervision.
  • Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills.
  • Strong knowledge of social media platforms and trends.
  • Collaborative teamplayer, with excellent people skills and ability to engage on all levels of the organization.
  • Selfmotivated and independent, with excellent prioritization, project management and critical thinking skills, a strong sense of focus, organization, and meticulous attention to detail
