- Cost Estimation: Analyze project plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial and residential site work projects, including earthwork, utilities, grading, paving, and landscaping.
- Bid Preparation: Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop comprehensive bid proposals that meet client requirements and project specifications. Ensure that all bids are submitted accurately and on time.
- Quantity Takeoff: Conduct quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, and equipment required for each project. Utilize industry-standard estimating software and tools to streamline the takeoff process and improve accuracy.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Relations: Solicit quotes and negotiate pricing with vendors and subcontractors to secure the best value for materials and services. Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and competitive pricing.
- Cost Analysis: Evaluate project costs against budgets and identify areas for cost savings or value engineering. Work closely with project teams to develop cost-effective solutions without compromising quality or safety standards.
- Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs and timelines. Develop mitigation strategies to minimize risks and ensure project success.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and related correspondence. Prepare detailed reports and presentations for internal review and client presentations.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven experience as a Civil Estimator with a focus on commercial and residential site work projects.
- Proficiency in construction cost estimating software such as Bluebeam, Planswift, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of industry best practices, codes, and regulations related to site development and construction.
- Experience with value engineering and cost-saving strategies.
- Familiarity with building information modeling (BIM) software.
