The Department of Education at the UCLA School of Education and Information Studies (Ed&IS) is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and service, with a steadfast commitment to advancing educational equity and social justice.

We are committed to advancing educational research, practice, and policy to foster equity, diversity, and inclusion in education.

    Position Summary

The UCLA Pritzker Center for Strengthening Children and Families unites a multidisciplinary network across campus and throughout LA County to identify prevention strategies that safely reduce the need for foster care, while supporting equitable reform to our child welfare system.

Collaboration is at the heart of the UCLA Pritzker Center. Our work comes to life through research, education, and partnership.

As a bridge from UCLA and into neighborhoods across the region, we team with researchers and community leaders to boldly challenge and resolve systemic issues that have made Los Angeles County's child welfare system the largest in the nation.

The Research Director will lead, manage and execute the research portfolio, and will facilitate the design and structure of various research efforts, including those initiated by the center and when hired for contract.

The Researcher Director is responsible for carrying out UCLA Pritzker Center research projects related to child welfare, family separation and other issues pertaining to foster care and family well-being.

The Research Director will oversee existing projects, and cultivate new opportunities for research and funding.

The Research Director will develop an agenda for future research, support the preparation of research grants, attend and present at conferences, and support both the internal and external development of relationships relevant to furthering the research agenda.

The Research Director will have extensive knowledge of child welfare systems, and intersectional topics such as race, disability, poverty, health, public health, mental health and education.

While the research on the Los Angeles County child welfare system is prioritized, other state and federal level programs are also relevant.

Under the oversight of the Executive Director and faculty, the Research Director will supervise and support the research fellow, postdoctoral research fellows, graduate student researchers, and other student researchers.

The Research Director will present workshops on developing research skills and provide direction toward the organization of the research enterprise.

The Research Director will work with numerous disciplines from across UCLA.
