- Works with the clinical trial management system – OnCore.
- Oversees all communication and coordination with subcontractors, public, private and government agencies, (e.g., academic institutions and private foundations) and other individuals or groups to exchange information, enlist collaboration, and implement sponsored projects and awarded proposals.
- Coordinates award set-up upon receipt of new awards with the PI and OVPR (administrative establishments, contracts, sub-awards, etc.). Works with Faculty PIs and OVPR regarding annual activities, payroll distributions, stipends and tuition benefits, etc. Facilitates financial award management, award spending projections, and reporting; meets regularly with PI to review.
- Ensures all reports and certificates are processed for grant close-outs; establishes and maintains grant proposal files and updates appropriate databases; prepares and updates annual and other periodical reports as requested.
- Oversees post-award functions and facilitates the management of awarded projects including project closeouts, memoranda and correspondence designed to document as well as enhance and expand research activities and programs and ensure that deliverables and milestones are met.
- Maintains continual contact with PIs, OVPR and the Grants and Contracts Office (GCAS) and others concerning financial matters related to the projects.
- Identifies issues and streamlines activities that further benefit the department and OVPR.
- Serves as a liaison between the department and OVPR.
- Enhances professional knowledge and skills by attending seminars/workshops and reviewing published literature.
- Administrative and financial experience in higher education research administration is desirable.
- Knowledge and experience with NIH extramural funding programs is highly desirable.
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Banner, Huron Research Administration tool and budgeting in an academic setting
- Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines and to prioritize multiple tasks and demands.
- Strong communication and excellent organizational, customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently, learn actively, and function at a fast pace.
- Applied knowledge of federal, state, local, and program regulations related to sponsored projects/activities and working knowledge of Uniform Guidance, 2 CFR 200.

In order to support the research growth efforts, we are looking for an individual who is energetic, proactive and portrays strong customer service skills with all levels of students, faculty, staff, and external constituents. This individual should be excited to assist in establishing departmental processes, procedures.
The individual will be expected to function independently, with general oversight from the Director of Research and Finance for the School of Medicine & Health Sciences. This senior level position focuses on providing research program support and post-award management. This position works closely with Principal Investigators, managing day-to-day operations through administrative contributions to ensure research success. This position makes recommendations to policy and procedures, and may have authority to implement changes with minimal supervision. This position usually identifies potential grant opportunities and proposal development efforts and maintains fiscal responsibility, as well as outreach to other GW stakeholders in order to assist in maintaining standard operational efficiencies.
Duties and Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 2 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master's degree or higher in a relevant area of study. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
