    The School of Special Educational Needs: Disability (SSEN:D) is seeking an innovative and energetic ICT Support Officer to join our Information Technology support team.

    To be successful in this role ideally you will be able to work well in a team environment and will be highly organised to effectively provide training advice and support to staff and students on desktop and software applications. In this role you will also be involved in maintaining accurate records of assets and will assist with the installation of Information Technology systems. Travel across the state and some overnight stays are a requirement of the role.

    SSEN:D provides state-wide support to schools to maximise learning outcomes for students with diagnosed and imputed disability. SSEN:D have staff located across the State. We provide consultancy services to educators, contextualised and evidence based professional learning, online research, information, resources and practical support. SSEN:D is committed to building the capacity of teachers and school-based staff to deliver effective classroom programs that value the diversity of students in inclusive learning environments. Our staff foster a collaborative and friendly working environment where each team member is valued for their contribution to our school.

    SSEN:D is one of eight Specialist Schools within the Department including a federation of four schools of Special Educational Need, including the School of Special Educational Needs: Behaviour and Engagement (SSEN:BE), the School of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health (SSEN:MMH) and the School of Special Educational Needs: Sensory (SSEN:S). Collaboration occurs between these schools to coordinate support for schools where possible and to share resources and expertise.

    This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

    To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):

  • Abilities supporting desktop and server infrastructure across multiple sites in a Microsoft networked environment
  • Knowledge of hardware, software and other information and communication technology resources including software licensing and information technology copyright obligations and regulations.
  • Well-developed organisational skills with the ability to work with limited supervision and prioritise duties in a demanding environment.
  • Sound conceptual and analytical skills relevant to computer support.
  • Well-developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to consult and negotiate with users on issues relevant to network administration.
  • Well-developed written communication skills with the ability to develop and implement user-training procedures.

  • Complete the Department's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultural awareness online course within 3 months of commencement;
  • Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
  • The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
