Position Summary

The Project Engineer provides technical support, guidance and direction to the Project Management Team.

This position is responsible for overseeing specific tasks and processes on a construction project, supervising a team of engineers, and managing a specialty trade coordination based on their developed expertise.

Primary Responsibilities

Facilitates contract administration, invitation to bid, estimating, and budgeting
Supervises subordinate engineers on medium to large projects
Partners with Project Manager in establishing pre-construction dates for scheduling of subcontract awards, approvals, and manufacturing
Evaluates, tracks and updates project schedules as needed
Ensures initial plans and specifications are issued to subcontractors and suppliers as well as on-site associates
Ensures materials and equipment are released for fabrication in time for their delivery as required
Procures shop drawings, samples, and other submittals per specifications
Oversees the RFI process as directed by Project Manager, Superintendent or Vice President
Examines all construction drawings and specifications for suspected constructability, potential code violations, and advises the Project Superintendent of such issues
Obtains and submits all as-built drawings, guarantees, warranties, and required operating and maintenance instructions as required to properly close-out the property
Resolves all punch list issues prior to occupancy
Schedules, conducts, and prepares minutes for all meetings as directed by Project Manager or Superintendent
Maintains project file system, under the guidance of the Project Manager

Desired Skills & Experience

5+ years of experience in carpentry, foreman projects and quality control
Valid driver's license and automobile insurance required
Proficiency in Windows operating system, Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
Knowledge of federal, state and local code for Handicap, Fair Housing, ANSI, Waterproof, Environment/AQI and Acoustical
Ability to comprehend financial statements, such as profit and loss statements, general ledgers, and budgets
Flexible and adaptable with excellent organization and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and management skills; ability to train and lead a team
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to make quick and effective decisions
