- Defines and develops funding sources to support existing and planned program activities for the Fire/EMS Department as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies.
- Prepares yearly grant budget for the Fire/EMS Department
- Responsible for managing the State AMOSS grant for the Fire/EMS Department
- Provide leadership, direction, and coordinate duties of the Budget Management Analyst II staff responsible for expenditure authorization and accountability, grant expenditure tracking, and overall financial reporting.
- Oversee the authorization and processing of financial transactions for grants, including payment requests, credit card purchases, purchase requisitions, and contract encumbrances; authorize fiscal requests as the Budget Manager's designee and process for payment; oversee the submission of financial documents into the County SAP accounting system; oversee the internal accountability system reporting and analysis, expenditure comparison and worksheet preparations monthly; oversee grant expenditure tracking and analysis, fixed assets, special projects, and other required County expenditure reporting.

- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Finance, Quantitative Analysis or Business Administration or a related field, Plus
- At least three (3) years of professional accounting experience; Including at least one (1) year in the lead/supervisory role.
- Five (5) years of Government Accounting experience overseeing grant management and developing grant applications*Ability to identify and source grant funding opportunities.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge in Microsoft Excel
- Possess a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) title Knowledge of Systems Applications and Products (SAP) or other Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) platforms is preferred.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Knowledge of present value and future value calculations.
- Must be able to analyze, interpret, and submit oral/written reports Great time management, analytical and organizational skills.

The Prince George's County Government Department of Fire and Emergency Services (Fire/EMS) is seeking qualified applicants to fill the Grants Manager (Accountant 4H) position, grade H27, within its FD Fiscal Affairs Division
About the Position:
This high-level accounting professional position performs complex financial, administrative, and supervisory duties for the Fire/EMS Department, with a high degree of independent judgment, action, initiative, and analysis. This position is responsible for the Grants team within Administrative Services and supervises a Budget Management Analyst III position. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Fiscal Affairs Manager and is evaluated based on the overall contribution to the agency's improvement and organizational efficiency. The incumbent in this position is considered an "Essential" employee and may be required to report for work during natural/manmade disasters and during special operations as assigned. "Essential" employees are expected to report or remain at work when other County employees are granted Administrative Leave.

General Plan Information:
The Prince George's County benefits plan year is from January 1 to December 31.
A spouse (to include a same sex spouse) can be added to the health benefit plans. A marriage certificate and social security number is required to add a spouse.
Children under the age of 26 are eligible for coverage under the health benefit plans. This includes stepchildren and children of the same-sex spouse. A birth certificate(s) and social security number(s) is required to add a child(ren). If you are only adding the stepchildren or child(ren) of a same-sex spouse, you will need to submit a marriage certificate. You will also need to submit the birth certificate of the child(ren) and your spouse must be listed as a parent.
The premiums for health benefits are deducted on a pre-tax basis with the exception of Long-Term Disability, Extra Life Insurance and Voluntary Benefits (Short-Term Disability, Whole Life Insurance, Critical Illness, Accident Insurance, Cancer Indemnity, Hospital Indemnity Protection, Accident Indemnity Plan, Supplemental Dental and Group Legal Services).
New employees must enroll in the County's health benefit plans within thirty (30) days of the hire date.
The effective date of the health benefits coverage is the beginning of the month following a waiting period of forty-five (45) days from the date of hire.
After enrolling in the County's benefit plans, employees may only make changes to the plans either during the open enrollment period, which occurs annually (usually each October), and/or during the year, due to a family status change (i.e., marriage, births, divorce and adoption).
