    Description:


    The Office of Budget and Financial Analysis supports the Chancellor and Provost in financial planning, budget analysis, and fiscal administration. The Accounting Associate, under the supervision of the Associate Director, plays a key role in developing and managing the annual budget. The position encompasses three main areas of responsibilities:

    Budget Development, Resource Planning & Accounting Analysis (60%), Accounting for the Contract Programs/Shorelight Education Contract (20%), Special Projects/Financial, Administrative & Operational Support (20%). The Accounting Associate leverages professional accounting expertise to manage budgeting processes effectively.


    Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Gain a deep understanding of the unique aspects of assigned units.
    • Collaborate with the unit's fiscal staff to create and update comprehensive annual budget documentation.
    • Evaluate funding requests and provide recommendations to senior management for strategic initiatives and programs.
    • Offer technical advice and services to units or campus leadership, identifying problem areas, and developing solutions based on financial data.
    • Draft and monitor agreements for the allocation of campus funds, ensuring compliance and proper utilization.
    • Provide expert guidance on complex accounting and financial issues to management and administration.
    • Develop accounting systems and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulations and overseeing their implementation.
    • Analyze financial data to generate reports and distribute them across departments.
    • Manage financial reconciliation and allocations in accordance with contract terms and procedures.
    • Address data inconsistencies, validate invoices, and serve as a key resource for financial queries.
    • Participate in discussions and analyses of new programs for financial viability.
    • Contribute to special projects including report building, program analysis, and more.
    • Maintain standard operating procedures and support BFA in system development.
    • Process entries and perform inventory tasks as required.

    Minimum Qualifications Required:

    • A. Bachelor's degree in Accountancy or a related field AND a minimum of two (2) years of professional accounting experience.
    OR

    B.

    Current registration as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant, or a valid license to practice Public Accounting (LPA).

    OR

    C. Master's degree in Accountancy or related field.
