Company BackgroundFounded in 1973, Mid-State started out as a Machine Shop with 15 employees servicing mostly the Phosphate industry.

Today, Mid-State employees over 500 people serving the Phosphate, Chemical, Power, Citrus, Sand & Aggregate, and many other industries by offering turnkey solutions including field maintenance, fabrication, dragline repair, machining, pump repair, gearbox repair, and valve repair.

Mid-State is equipped with industry experts, over 200,000 square feet of shop space, and overhead crane capacity up to 35 tons all which allow us to meet all of our clients' needs.

Job SummaryAs a Industrial Welder, you will be expected to weld using GMAW, SMAW, FCAW and GTAW procedures. You will be expected to remove material using air-arcs, torches, and plasma cutters. Skills & QualificationsExperience with GMAW, SMAW, FCAW and GTAW welding procedures is required. Experience with welding in 3G and 4G positions is preferred.
Knowledge of welding positioners, power rolls and associated set-ups is preferred.
Knowledge of commonly used filler metals for carbon and stainless steels is preferred.
Knowledge of casted metals welding procedures is a plus, but not required.
Knowledge of pre-heating and cooling processes is a plus.
Comprehension of blueprints and drawings is preferred. Obey all safety rules and regulations. Ability to fulfill all attendance and time requirements. Previous forklift and/or overhead crane experience is preferred. Positive, can-do, team-oriented attitude. Great active listening skills.

Other InformationThis is a non-exempt position. This position reports to the Specialty Welding Supervisor.

Physical Requirements / Working EnvironmentLocation is at 2730 Mine and Mill Rd, Lakeland, FL.This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday-Saturday 6:00AM to 4PM. Saturdays and/or Sundays are required dependent on shop workload. Working environment is in an industrial shop; non-climate controlled and is often times hot / humid. Frequent exposure to moving equipment, machines and shop tools, and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks.

Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.

While performing the duties of this job, you will:

Frequently perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.

Frequently use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.

The ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry objects up to (frequently 25 pounds; routinely 50 pounds).
