The Opportunity
Launched in 2023, the Early Care and Education, Realizing Employment and Creating Hope (ECE REACH) pilot initiative delivers vital workforce development services to both new recruits and established members of the Felton Institute's ECE workforce. ECE REACH's tier 1 pre-apprenticeship program offers an evidence-based, fast-track pathway tailored for first-generation, non-traditional college students, immigrant Latinas, and other marginalized adults and transitional-aged youth. Designed to serve individuals facing limitations with right to work, economic challenges and housing insecurity, the program targets both youth (high school students and individuals aged and parents (aged 18 and above), particularly monolingual Spanish speakers. Apprentices in tier 1 can gain practical experience in center-based or family childcare settings or contribute to the development or a co-operative. ECE REACH offers tier 2 (Teacher) and tier 3 (Lead Teacher) apprenticeships, provides ongoing educational support for our incumbent workforce to pursue their BA degrees while maintaining full-time employment.
