    Description

    Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, the purpose of this role is to be the packaging champion for the business being the primary packaging contact with all internal stakeholders, Customers and Suppliers.

    To be the lead on packaging ordering to ensure sound commercial value is added at all stages and to develop specifications and meet technical demands for all packaging.

    **Responsibilities:**

    -Develop innovative and efficient packaging specifications with commercially focused decisions on buying the right spec, at the right price at the right time from the right supplier to deliver brand values and operational efficiencies.

    -Co-ordinate and support packaging trials owning the creation and delivery of relevant packaging documentation e.g. cutter guides, pallet patterns, component drawings & material specifications.

    Work with customers and planning team to ensure most commercially advantageous quantities of packaging are ordered to optimize stock availability, lead time and price ready for call off for production.

    -Work with suppliers to provide forecasts ensuring raw material is available for packaging orders.

    Provide advice to customers and stakeholders on appropriate packaging to ensure the most suitable packaging and suppliers are used.

    Work with finance, commercial and Customers to identify and resolve slow moving and obsolete packaging stock issues

    Monitor packaging market to ensure stakeholder awareness of innovative solutions.

    -To be the key contact for packaging suppliers on NPD projects and artwork changes.

    Responsible for food safety

    Alignment with the companys core values

    **Skills:**

    Packaging buying experience, preferably with experience in a role within a FMCG environment.

    Basic appreciation of packaging materials especially flexible and carton board packaging.

    A knowledge and experience of purchasing systems and processes.

    Experience with line trials to understand the importance of packaging for the efficient running of packing lines.

    A self-starter, who can work independently within a team environment with excellent organisational skills.

    Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to develop relationships internally and externally to the business.

    Strong computer skills including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS Outlook

    Dedication to the role and the business exhibited through attendance and a willingness and desire to learn and take part in areas and projects outside of the scope of the role.
