Position Summary

This position is responsible for providing assistance to the Money Room Manager. Responsibilities include performing a variety of data-entry functions, preparing reports and forms, supervising money counting operations, distribution of allotted monies and assisting in the supervision of money handling.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in supervising the Money Room and overseeing the assigned workload, which includes monitoring and enforcing all monetary security policies.
Reports violations to the Money Room Manager and assumes accountability for compliance.
Trains employees in work procedures and methods.
Collects money from designated areas on a scheduled basis and assumes responsibility for delivery of money to proper location.
Faces and counts bills for daily deposit and allotted distributions.
Enters data on cash received into computerized system; generates daily cash report.
Maintains inventory of vouchers and tickets.
Performs reconciliation of accounts, including customer service representatives.
Possesses sound knowledge of money accounting and the utilization of Mutuel vendor technology.
Communicates with employees and managers to exchange information and explain procedures.
Assists the Money Room Manager with the reconciliation and deposit of all cash.
Must perform the Money Room Manager duties in his or her absence, i.e., daily reconciliation.
Provide tech support by maintaining and balancing ATM machines.
Provides support for Lottery Machine balancing and reporting
Develop and maintain spreadsheets and worksheets for day-to-day operations.

Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED required, Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred. Minimum of 1 year experience in banking or Finance and Administration areas is required.

Special Qualifications: Advanced Excel skills are a must. Associate needs to have general business, accounting knowledge. Also required of the incumbent is an in-depth wagering and horseracing knowledge. Strong organizational, managerial and communication skills are required. Proven supervisory skills over a team by the incumbent would be a plus. Associate needs to have the ability to get along with co-workers and work as a team leader, as well as serves as a dynamic and energetic leader, while fostering teamwork, team member morale, motivation and open communication. The person needs to ensure that team members clearly understand and are held accountable for their performance expectations.

Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents, such as safety rules, maintenance manuals, and policies and procedures, and the ability to respond to common inquiries or regulatory agencies or members of the business community.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, to subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. Incumbent needs to have the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables, and must have a high level of independent problem solving.
