    Primary Function of the Position


    Under the direction of the President and CEO, this position is responsible for the strategic direction and activities of the development department and the supervision of Development staff.

    The Director of Fund Development works in close partnership with the executive team and is responsible for developing and driving development strategies that grow the organization while supporting current services and programs.


    The candidate must demonstrate a strong work ethic, as well as integrity, accountability, and high performance in previous work experiences.

    The best candidate for this position is someone who can align themselves to our outcomes driven culture and understands the unique challenges of an immigrant and refugee communities.

    The successful candidate has had successful experience fundraising at all levels from individual donors, community partnerships, government, private foundations, on-line fundraising experience, and more.


    Position ResponsibilitiesStrategize and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to include grant-writing, donor campaigns, annual fundraising events, new initiatives funding, etc.

    Supervise and lead a development team of staff and interns/graduate studentsCultivate relationships with current and new foundations/funders/donorsOversee and direct the on-going data management of Salesforce, HAP's fund development softwareOversee and direct the on-going grant management system that includes: new contracts, renewals, budget modifications, funder communication, and moreOversee and manage communications, public relations, and marketing strategies and initiatives that include: social media, websites, press releases, and HAP's brand identityLead the efforts in government, foundation, and partner proposal planning, preparation, and assist in writingDirect the efforts of Development staff and Impact Area leaders in report writing, communication protocols and processes, and evaluations that support funder driven outcomesWork closely with Development staff in the submission of proposalsAnalyze fund development activity data to strengthen fundraising activitiesWork closely and coordinate the fund development activities of the Board of DirectorsOther duties as assigned, and as needed, to further the goals of the program and in alignment with HAP's mission.

    Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

    Specialized training in:
    MS Office and Software, fundraising software, Salesforce is preferredKnowledge of non-profit fundraising activities, trends, and resourcesAbility to work with diverse staff and organizations and provide effective supervisionSolid understanding of the issues, challenges, and needs of immigrant/refugees, low-income families, and vulnerable populationsAbility to interpret legislation and regulations and effectively implement into fundraising goalsDemonstrated ability to manage and track multiple tasks/projects simultaneously as well as manage conflicting prioritiesEffective leadership style that promotes positive team building and collaboration across Impact AreasAbility to achieve fundraising and compliance outcomes in a pro-active, timely mannerAbility to motivate teams to produce quality work product within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projectsEducation and Experience

    B.A. Required with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience or a M.A.

    degree and a minimum of four years of experience in a role of increasing responsibility and leadership in fundraisingMust have strong experience and track record of success in fundraising in a broad set of program areas that include:
    workforce development, housing and economic development, children and family services, health and wellness, education services, and social enterprisesMust demonstrate ability to fund raise for multi-year and multi-million dollar grantsMust have excellent verbal and written communication skills including social media and communications strategiesExperience in writing grants for the immigrant/refugee population highly preferredEssential Functions
