    Overview

    The Macalester Fund seeks a skilled communicator, strategist, and strong manager to oversee Macalester Fund functions related to growing our number of alumni donors.

    This role manages two members of the Macalester Fund team and oversees functions related to Outreach Center, Campus Philanthropy, Young Alumni, Class Agent, Reunion giving, giving days and other special initiatives.

    Coordinates and serves as the main point person for the Class Agent program. Directly supports Class Agent and Reunion volunteers. In addition, collaboratively implements varying special initiatives. This role will also conceptualize and execute special giving opportunities and challenges for alumni donors.
    This is a full time role, with a hybrid schedule (requiring 2-3 days a week onsite).

    About the Department:


    The Macalester Fund is the annual giving arm of Macalester's Advancement team, supporting Macalester students who influence change for the better across the globe.

    Gifts to the Macalester Fund support all aspects of Macalester and provide broad, annual, and essential support for everyone in the Macalester community.

    The nine person Macalester Fund team works collaboratively to develop community-centric engagement and fundraising strategies to secure annual gifts from alumni, parents, faculty, staff, students, and parents.

    Responsibilities Supervision of staff and programs

    Partners with the Director to manage the Macalester Fund team, with an emphasis on fostering collaboration and a positive team culture.

    Supervises, coaches, and directs the work of two members of the Macalester Fund team–Associate Director, Outreach Center and Assistant Director, Young Alumni.

    Ensures coordination between student and young alumni philanthropy and engagement efforts.

    Co-leads the Campus Philanthropy Working Group, our cross-campus group of faculty, staff, and students who work to foster a giving-positive campus culture.

    Leads the Volunteer Management Working Group, an Advancement-wide group of staff members who manage individual groups of volunteers.
    Volunteer management

    Determines best practices for volunteer engagement and implements the overarching strategies and tactics used to grow a strong and stable Class Agent program.

    Serves as the daily point person and coordinator within the Macalester Fund office for questions about the volunteer program. Tracks, manages resources, reports out on and adjusts strategies and tactics in order to meet program targets.

    Manages overarching Reunion class gift strategy and supports milestone class gift efforts, including recruiting and supporting gift volunteers and creating and implementing strategies and tactics to reach participation and dollar targets.

    In addition, recruits and manages particular groups of Class Agents and Reunion giving volunteers.
    Donor strategy

    In partnership with the Director, develops the strategic vision and goals for participation-level alumni giving, ensuring that they align with larger Macalester Fund, Engagement, and Advancement goals.

    Collaborates with Associate Director, Communications to develop communications and outreach strategies that appeal to a wide range of donors.
    Special initiatives coordination

    Collaboratively works with Macalester Fund, Alumni Engagement staff, and other colleagues to implement special Macalester Fund initiatives, including giving days, events, volunteer trainings, etc.

    Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree or 7+ years of relevant experience.

    5+ years of experience managing projects and/or volunteers, soliciting philanthropic gifts and/or building relationships with clients, and comfort with engaging diverse constituents.

    1-3 years of supervisory experience.
    Knowledge of best practices in annual giving and volunteer management, including committee and board management.

    Ability to analyze trends in relationship building and make recommendations about how to improve constituent experiences and engagement through that analysis.

    Experience with project management of events, programs, and processes with multiple stakeholders.
    Experience with email, social media, google, etc. Familiarity with Slate for Advancement or similar CRMs like Raiser's Edge or Banner Advance.
    Excellent analytical, organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
    Handle confidential material responsibly.
    Conduct interpersonal relationships maturely, thoughtfully, and empathetically, including the ability to work with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
    Compensation
    The annual salary for this position is $70,000 to $76,000 depending on experience.
