- Performs outreach and recruitment of eligible applicants for programs by providing program presentations for interested applicants.
- Keep accurate written records and case files that are necessary to meet program requirements.
- Conduct initial assessments (including career interests and training readiness) for participants.
- Provides case management services including follow-up, and referrals to other support agencies as necessary.
- Conduct job search and work readiness workshops to all clients and provides one-on-one job counseling.
- Collect data, input case notes into CalJOBS data tracking system and maintain records and case files.
- Facilitation of evidence-based groups and best practices for youth impacted by the justice system.
- Complete all required case file documentation in a timely and routine fashion.
- Provide safe, secure transportation to clients to assist them with shopping for basic needs items, as needed.
- Develops/maintains relationships and provides presentations to/with EDD field offices, One-Stop Career Centers, Community Based Organizations, local LEA's, churches and local civic groups.
- Develops and maintains contacts with employers to obtain job leads and internship/OJT opportunities.
- Conducts visits to internship sites and with all trainees placed into employment and collects appropriate signatures on required documentation.
- Coordinates job interviews and company tours with employers, instructors, and clients
- Maintain all activities in a data management system on a timely basis.
- Provides joint WIOA classes.
- Attends all agency required meetings and training.

- BA or BS degree in Social Services, required OR a minimum of four years of experience in Workforce Development and or related field as an equivalency.
- A minimum of 1 - 2 years of program experience working with special populations of youth (homeless, foster care, justice involved) and provision of direct services.
- Excellent time management, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience empowering and challenging individuals to meet goals and holding them accountable.
- Ability to engage others easily, maintain an empathetic stance, and de-escalate situation.
- Must possess strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to speak publicly.
- Must be computer literate, as well as have familiarity with personal computers.
- Demonstrate initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills.
- Maintain regular communication with assigned students at key points in the semester to include reminders about important dates, upcoming events, and processes to be followed.
- Innovative and creative with an interest in creating programming and services tailored to the needs of unique population.
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information.
- Ability to work with a diverse population, possess cultural sensitivity, and maintain appropriate boundaries with clients.
- Employment may be conditioned upon satisfactory completion of certain background clearances which may include a Department of Justice criminal background check requiring my fingerprints (Live Scan), screening through the National Sex Offender Public Website, drug test, tuberculosis (TB) test, and such additional clearances as may be required under the program.
- Candidate is required to have reliable transportation; therefore, the candidate must successfully complete a motor history check. Candidate must also possess and maintain a current valid California driver's license and valid auto insurance policy.

The Work Readiness for System Impacted Youth program offers paid work-readiness courses, educational guidance, paid internships, individualized support, financial support (education, childcare, interview/work attire and supplies, and transportation) to eligible individuals aged who live in San Diego County and have been impacted by the justice system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the supervision of the Program Coordinator and assigned representative in the agency in which they are stationed, the Career Coach performs outreach and recruitment, counseling, WIOA eligibility, suitability assessment, assessment testing, and case management. Maintains confidentiality of clients and acts as a liaison between employers and the EXCEL program. Works as part of the EXCEL team in providing work-readiness skills, develop internships and when needed, is responsible for job placement functions.
