Jorge Barrera

My name is Jorge Antonio Barrera (some people call me Tony). I live in the Bay Area and have completed the Year Up program which is a nonprofit that focuses on helping young individuals prepare for a corporate job by teaching them professional skills. Thanks to Year Up, I've been given the opportunity to work with the Identity and Access Management team at Meta as a Project Coordinator. 

Meta, Menlo Park, CA January 2022 – July 2022

Project Coordinator (System Engineering Projects)

• Led weekly check ins within team across different engineering levels to gather project updates on any ongoing projects within the team resulting in keeping information on our projects constantly up to date with all information on tasks
• Led and facilitated documentation revamp meeting blocks to drive updates to 28 different products and services. This includes services and user facing documents. The result was an easier to navigate team wiki and enabling more self service for employee needing assistance with team services – directly reducing pings to team members.
• Led the project to revamp how team tracks the state of over 60 different job automations that are critical to supporting team services and company process. Working directly with engineering to assess output and help facilitate the necessary conversations to provide feedback on next steps to improve signal for failure.
• Directly responsible for team’s outward communications. For example but not limited to the manager adhoc request: quarter wrap up, monthly wins, team weekly focus, daily standups. This responsibility mean articulating and summarizing technical discussion and accomplishments for someone unfamiliar to understand
• Project: documentation move from Quip to GSuite. I volunteered to take on this project as the engineers are overwhelmed with other work. Result: Migrated +500 documents from Quip to GSuite, reviewing content and organizing this into the structure I helped to create with the documentation revamp.

Stanford Golf Learning Center, Palo Alto, CA March 2021 – January 2022

• Provided strong service to 100+ customers daily, handling phone inquiries and conducting in-person sales, ensuring a good first time and returning experience to the course
• Worked well with teams resulting in finish large tasks by closing time.

Amazon Warehouse, Milpitas, CA November 2020 – January 2021

Warehouse Associate

• Arranged and organized packages daily for three months resulting in demonstrating strong commitment resulting in effective demonstration of work performance and commitment. 
• Sorted an average of 30 packages per minute resulting in being the top 10 employees for the week. 
• Assisted a team in loading 3+ trucks worth of packages daily to increase the speed and efficiency of deliveries and warehouse replenishment.
