Ellen Cook

Ellen’s many years as a chaplain and counselor give her experience working with diverse populations. Her relational presentation style engages listeners and instills listeners with an appreciation for the important work they do. Ellen’s work experience and advanced degrees give her insight into the emotional needs of people and how to deal with anxiety, anger, and crisis situations. 

Ellen has skills in end-of-life symptoms, grief support, public speaking, preaching, teaching, in-service presentations, facilitating life reflection for patients and family, Microsoft Office Suite, pastoral counseling, and contemplative and creative prayer practices.  

I am ordained by Scott Boulevard Baptist Church and endorsed as a chaplain by the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship. I have 20 years in spiritual leadership and pastoral care. I thrive on building relationships by providing a compassionate, understanding presence and listening to staff and residents.

I have worked for Gentiva Hospice, Encompass Hospice, St. Mary's Hospice, Hospice of NGMC. 
My many years as a chaplain give me experience working with diverse populations. I have a relational presentation style that engages the listener. I work with patients who have differing levels of ability in assisted living facilities and skilled nursing homes weekly. I enjoy working with people affected by dementia and I have advanced skills in dementia care.

I earned my Doctor of Ministry degree with my thesis on creative spirituality practices such as Scripture-guided meditation, drum circles, silent contemplation, prayer journals, and drawing mandalas.
