Special Operations Forces and Systems Engineering Intern Lexington, KY

●  Designed E&T bid pricing template by compiling data from diverse team members in different fields

(Mechanical, Electrical, Aero, Computer, and Management). Trimmed the number of user inputs from 197 to 25, making the template more user friendly. The previous template was based on Subject Matter Expert (SME) opinion, but now all of the estimated labor hours are backed by data from previous efforts.

●  Derived primary system requirements and decomposed requirements for an M-240 gun mount on the MH-47 aircraft. Used the software DOORS to separate requirements based on key performance parts and function fields of operation.

●  Used FARO laser technology to test the alignment of new parts on the MH-47. Results passed inspection ~80% of the time. Aided trouble-shooting efforts when a part needed to be calibrated.

Fiber Materials Inc. June – Aug. 2021 Manufacturing Engineer and R&D Assistant Biddeford, ME

●  Supported manufacturing of missile tip and spacecraft re-entry units by testing and assembling an R&D weaving machine that wove fibers together and created a pre-form material. Tested the functionality of every sheet that the fibers were threaded into, and found that ~2% of holes required manual adjustments.

●  Assembled the skeleton of the 10 ft. tall weave by following CAD models provided by the Design team. Inspected the system for any sharp edges to ensure safe working conditions for all operators.

●  Conducted CAD model analysis (SolidWorks) for current machines to reveal that ~10% of existing drawings were outdated. Analysis led to follow-on efforts to update the CAD models.

●  Performed Pareto analysis to decrease the frequency of fiber-related defects during the weaving process. Found the main cause of defects was related to the spooling system in the machines. Lead a collaborative effort to replace bearings and find the optimal spooling angle. Presented findings to the Engineering team.

Cordero Lab Dec. 2020 – Feb. 2021 Data Analyst Cambridge, MA

●  Analyzed data on oxygen-rich engines and back-calculated turbine inlet temperatures and pressures to

avoid frictional ignition in oxygen-rich turbo-pumps.

●  Produced figures of temperature vs pressure exchanges in oxygen-rich turbo-pumps and gas turbine

engines. Data was presented to engineers at The Aerospace Corporation. Analysis led to follow on efforts to find a material that could withstand the calculated temperatures and pressures.
