    Managing Director of Workforce Development

    Position Overview


    Living Classrooms Foundation (LCF) is seeking an exceptional Managing Director of Workforce Development to lead its Baltimore programs and have oversight of its Washington DC programs.

    Reporting to LCF's CEO and President, James P.

    Bond, the Managing Director of Workforce Development will steer the strategic vision for LCF's Workforce Development programs in Baltimore and DC while leading and mentoring a high-performing team of professionals.

    The Managing Director of Workforce Development will strategize with the Leadership team to foster an environment of smart growth while establishing and enforcing best practices.

    The Managing Director will ensure the Workforce Development programs meet or exceed their goals while carrying out the mission of Living Classrooms Foundation.


    The ideal Managing Director of Workforce Development candidate is a motivational and effective leader able to set and drive progress towards ambitious goals.

    She or he will be skilled in fundraising, nonprofit management, program implementation, and partnership development.

    She or he will be analytical, highly collaborative, and have a proven track record of establishing buy-in across stakeholders and influencing diverse groups of individuals and networks to achieve desired outcomes.

    Responsibilities

    Leadership and Management
    Mentor and lead an exceptional and diverse staff of individuals

    • Foster a highly effective work culture with strong leadership development to staff through quality coaching and feedback
    Manage the Workforce Development programs towards ambitious goals, using data-driven decision making to monitor and address problems, improve performance and increase sustainability
    Cultivate internal and external talent required for the long-term success of LCF
    Represent LCF with external partners, funders, and stakeholders.

    Programs
    Oversee a high-quality delivery of LCF's Workforce Development programs
    In conjunction with the Leadership team, implement a three to a five-year growth strategy that supports smart growth and aligns with LCF's long term goals to scale programs
    Work closely with staff to improve both efficiency and impact
    Instill an environment of transparency and best practices
    Ensure program objectives, outcomes, and requirements are being met
    Assist program directors in the financial development of programs to ensure program sustainability and expansion/scalability when appropriate
    Fundraising, grant writing and reporting
    Budgeting and financial oversight of programs

    Partnerships and Communications
    Serve as the key external voice and representative of LCF's Workforce Development programs in Baltimore and Washington DC, demonstrating an exceptional and compelling articulation of LCF's work
    Steward effective Partnerships with Partners to support progress towards LCF's goals

    Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the public and private sectors including corporations, foundations, public officials, peer organizations, etc...

    Cultivate a brand that is reflective of LCF's core values and culture

    Qualifications
    Five to seven years in a senior management position, at least three (3) years of which in a service-related nonprofit organization
    At least five (5) + years managing a layered team. Proven track record of managing, mentoring, and inspiring a high performing team to reach ambitious goals
    Demonstrated success designing and executing high-level fundraising strategies and strategic partnerships
    The ability to critically assess challenges and identify effective solutions
    Knowledge of and relationships within the Baltimore civic, philanthropic, and political landscapes
    Keen gravitas, levity and inspirational leadership; able to address the community, serve as a strategic community leader and collaborator within Baltimore City
    Outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders
    Comfort navigating ambiguity and the gray areas with a keen eye to motivate and bring staff along, inspire collaboration and strive to succeed aspirational goals
    Aligned in thought and action with LCF's values
    Views differences between individuals (race, gender, age, cultural heritage, physical ability, education and lifestyle) as an asset and demonstrates an appreciation of the diversity within LCF
    Related Bachelor's degree required, MBA or Master's Degree preferred
    Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory fingerprinting and criminal background check
