- Act as a liaison between EO+T and 2nd line of defense to drive the adoption risk management and regulatory requirements, including corporate policies/standards and directives received from our regulator, the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA).
- Support the design and implementation of processes and controls to maintain compliance.
- Apply sound judgment in evaluating risks and controls related to compliance; effectively challenge the business on the identification and acceptance of risks, issues, and the adequacy of controls.
- Produce monthly compliance gap/issue reporting to senior leadership.
- Bachelor's degree
- 3-5 years of experience working in operational risk management, compliance, internal audit, or a similar business function, including 2 years at the senior associate / senior analyst level
- +2 years of risk advisory/consulting experience at a Big 4 firm or the like is preferred
- Financial industry experience is preferred
- Knowledge of operational risk frameworks and key activities related to the assessment and management of risks
- Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic; be independent and self-motivated
- Challenge the status quo; work to improve processes and find efficiencies
- Collaborate effectively in a team environment
- Prepare and succinctly summarize data for review with senior leadership
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills
- Adapt to change and prioritize work to deliver on short- and long-term objectives

Position Overview:
Freddie Mac is seeking a Risk & Controls Senior to join a group of hard-working professionals on our Risk Management Team. This team is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of our 1st line of defense operational risk management and governance program. This position is responsible for assessing and monitoring adherence to risk management and regulatory requirements and driving consistent adoption across the division The Risk & Controls Senior will work with business customers to expeditiously close gaps and ensure appropriate controls are in place. The Risk & Controls Senior will also support risk oversight activities designed to drive clarity for senior leadership. Our ideal candidate is a motivated risk management professional with excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
Our Impact:
Risk Management is responsible for leading operational risks within the division. The primary responsibilities of this team include providing operational risk management oversight and governance, assessing and monitoring compliance with corporate policy/standards and regulatory requirements, and acting as a liaison between to other divisions in all risk-related matters. This role will include implementing risk management frameworks, monitoring and reporting compliance gaps/issues, and driving continuous improvement of risk management capabilities.
