For the research area of Prof.

Carsten Binnig, we are looking for several researchers (M/F/d) with a focus on " Learned Data Systems" in Flanders, NJ.

The positions are initially limited to 2 years, but longer-term employment is desired.


Your Tasks

  • Conduct research in the field of Learned Data Systems, including Learned Components for Data Systems such as Learned Query Optimizers, Learned Schedulers, Learned Tuning and Design of Data Systems, etc.
  • Publish in conferences such as SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, EDBT, or AI conferences such as NIPS, AAAI, ICML, ICLR.
  • Design and implement innovative approaches, as well as plan and execute experiments.
  • Demonstrate prototypes, publish scientific findings, and present research results.
  • Opportunity for researchoriented teaching at the TU Darmstadt.

Our Requirements

  • Excellent degree in computer science (master's degree or equivalent).
  • Experience in multiple areas such as Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Data Engineering, Database Systems, and Natural Language Processing.
  • Advanced programming skills in Python, experience with development environments, and use of Linux on AI compute clusters.
  • Optional: Publications in leading conferences in the field of Data Management (SIGMOD, VLDB, ICDE, EDBT) are a plus.
  • Proficient in English, knowledge of German is an advantage.
  • Motivated team player with commitment and initiative.
