    Job Summary:


    Gateway Special Recreation Association is seeking warm, enthusiastic, and patient individuals to join as Camp Counselors for children with special needs.

    As a Camp Counselor, you will have the opportunity to develop essential skills such as leadership, communication, problem-solving, and relationship management while creating memorable experiences and nurturing positive memories for campers.


    Responsibilities:

    • Supervise and engage campers in various recreational activities and programs
    • Ensure the safety and wellbeing of campers at all times
    • Lead ageappropriate recreational activities, games, and crafts
    • Assist with mealtime supervision
    • Provide guidance and support to campers in conflict resolution
    • Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive and inclusive camp environment
    • Maintain accurate records of camper attendance, incidents, and behavior

    Qualifications:

    • Enjoy being in the company of children, particularly those with special needs
    • Physical stamina for outdoor activities and play
    • Ability to educate and mentor campers in a fun and engaging manner
    • Proficiency in implementing Positive Behavior Support plans
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
    • Problemsolving skills and a team player mentality
    • Capable of lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds and understanding written information

    Requirements:

    • Minimum age of 16 years
    • CPR and First Aid certification preferred (training provided)
    • Ability to pass a background check
