Hours:
Monday - Friday 9:00am - 3:00pm


JOB SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of the Dance Supervisor, plan and execute dance camps.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to work with ages 612 years old.
  • Ability to plan and execute daily lessons plans to coincide with weekly dance theme.
  • Ability to instruct ballet, modern, jazz, hiphop, pom and tap classes in accordance with standard curriculum.
  • Knowledge of basic dance terminology, dance history, current dance trends, classroom etiquette, physical safety and proper guidance with movement execution.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students and parents.
  • Must attend all classes/rehearsals/performances/staff meetings.
  • Must attend staff educational functions.
  • Must accompany dance camps on daily/weekly field trips.
  • Performs the job safely and in compliance with district policies, procedures, work and safety rules.
  • Be familiar with the safe operation of any equipment necessary in accomplishing required tasks.

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Ability to choreograph and teach dances.
  • Ability to create and execute daily lesson plans.
  • Must submit all lesson plans, notes, signs and proposed field trips and outside activities for approval to the Dance Coordinator.
  • Must complete all clerical duties involved with dance camp.
  • Must dress in all black pants (jazz, yoga, exercise, sport) and wear Pavilion Dance Centre shirt for instruction of dance classes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five to ten years dance training/experience.
  • Some teaching and/or assistant teaching experience.
  • Communication and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to learn and be a team player.
  • Good knowledge of pertinent safety precautions.
  • Ability to maintain positive and effective working relationships with other employees.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive dance training and teaching experience.
