Position Description
Responsible for safely and efficiently loading/unloading of customer product into or out of vessels terminal owned equipment (Forklift, Front End loader, Bulldozer etc.). Position also responsible for general assignments as advised by mangement, inventory maintenance, and general grounds upkeep.
Primary Function
Performing facility operations such as loading vessels and cleaning/maintaining loading equipment.
Monitoring equipment to ensure its in good working order, participating in the overall maintenance of the facility and equipment, and notifying management of any necessary repairs or possible equipment concerns.
Maintaining the general appearance of the facility to include elevators, grounds, buildings, etc.
Providing a high level of customer service by displaying courteous, helpful, knowledgeable interaction and behaviors.
Interface with plant personnel to insure correct commodities and quantities are loaded.
Understanding and adhering to all safety rules and regulations
Miscellaneous duties such as assisting with special projects, attending training sessions, providing back-up when needed, etc.
Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures.
Report all environmental issues immediately to supervisor
Position Requirements
Minimum Requirements:
High school diploma or equipment
Verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal skills
Ability to perform physical job duties; lift up to 50lbs occasionally, bending, kneeling, climbing, crawling, and twisting safely
Must be able to work in various weather, industrial and agricultural settings
Ability to work in elevated areas
Ability to work regular overtime, weekends, and holidays with little notice.
Performance of any other type of terminal function as instructed by the supervisor.
Ability to work in varied indoor and outdoor conditions which may include heat, cold, dust, loud noise, etc with the use of personal protective equipment
Must be able to work 12 hour rotating shifts
Must be able to obtain TWIC card
Must have a Valid Drivers license
Must be available for 24 hour call-in.
Requires working at heights in excess of 80 feet.
May be assigned to other company facilities within a 50 mile radius of the Chesapeake, Virginia area.
Preferred
Proficient use of a computer
Able to operate machinery and/or industrial equipment
Prior experience in agricultural production related work
Skills:
Punctual and timely in meeting all requirements of performance, including but not limited to, attendance standards and work deadlines
Ability to maintain courteous, professional and effective working relationships with customers and employees at all levels of the organization
Ability to communicate information and state problems or challenges to be resolved in a clear, concise, courteous, nondiscriminatory and professional manner and be able to provide clarification as necessary
Capable of adapting, with minimal or no advance notice, to changes in how business is conducted and work is accomplished, with no diminishment in work performance
