The work schedule for this role is: 5am-5pm Pacific Time, Monday-Friday, rotating shift with weekends included.

SUMMARY
Under general supervision, performs a broad range of duties in the areas of security.

Secures premises and personnel by patrolling property; monitoring surveillance equipment; inspect buildings, equipment, and access points; logging and directing visitors.

Responsible for inspecting shipping trailers and containers.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works to detect or prevent unauthorized entry. Logs in employees. Manages passenger and truck traffic entering/exiting.
  • Logs in and directs visitors; ensuring that all visitors are aware of Pelican's visitor policy.
  • Monitors alarm systems and electronic surveillance equipment and responds to locally activated fire, burglary, or other alarms by reporting incidents to appropriate personnel.
  • Locks and unlocks gates and doors at designated times.
  • Permits authorized personnel entrance to closed or restricted areas within the plant and detains unidentified or unauthorized persons.
  • Observes and reports incidents of visitors or employees to appropriate personnel.
  • Conducts security and fire patrols using a location reader.
  • Relays reports of criminal activity to the appropriate law enforcement jurisdiction and participates in organized searches if a bomb threat is received.
  • Reports safety hazards and/or malfunctioning equipment.
  • Enforces company policy related to safety and security.
  • Responds to accidents and provides first aid/CPR if needed.
  • Writes daily activity, incident, traffic accident, and injury reports.
  • May operate miscellaneous equipment and/or motor vehicles as required.
  • Follows company policies and practices as outlined in the Employee Handbook and/or applicable employment agreement. Follows safety guidelines and procedures in accordance to the job.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Must possess a valid California Driver's License
  • Must possess a valid Guard Registration Card
  • Must possess a valid CPR/Red Cross First Aid Card or earn such certifications within 60 days of employment.
  • Must be willing to work overtime as needed to support ongoing business operations with mínimal notice.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


  • Must be able to interact effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels.
  • Must have the ability to complete assignments within the timeframe specified by the Manager.
  • Must be flexible regarding working hours and overtime. Must be able to work overtime on evenings and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Must be able to operate in a fastpaced environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be constantly required to execute standard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers).
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be occasionally required to execute nonstandard physical activities within the facility areas (i.e. climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch).
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
The approximate base compensation range is shown below. The actual offer may vary based on skills, experience and location.
