We're scaling our team and we want you to join usWe are looking for a detail-oriented fiber design engineer. A Fiber Design Engineer is a unique and exciting role responsible for designing our fiber optic infrastructure.You will be responsible for all technical aspects of our outside plant design and associated work including cable routes, cable fiber size, MST and splice enclosure placement, cable records, and permitting for ROW's and easements.
Duties and ResponsibilitiesEngineering design for outside plant.Proactive review of outside plant facilities to determine necessary upgrades and enhancementsMaintain accurate cable records and updatesAttend pre construction meetings for project designsApply for all permits as required (City, County, Townships)
Maintain and investigate ROW's and easementsAssist with project cost estimates and budgetsUpdate records according to As-BuiltsSupport sales, marketing, operations and regulatory as needed.
Communicate with state, county, city and national indices to gain information on planned projects that involve growth and changesCoordinate with all utilities for project design and construction to utilize joint trenchCommunicate with all peers and departments to insure proper project planningKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesKnowledge of outside plant activity and engineering tools to include AutoCAD, Vetro Fibermap, etc.
Critical thinking skills, problem solving, and the ability to adapt to changing requirements.Organizational skills, communication skills (written and verbal) and customer relations will be utilized in achieving desired results.
Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with Engineering team, department managers, vendors, supervisors and technicians.
Ability to manage multiple projects in various stages of activity and meet critical deadlines.
Ability to drive on behalf of the company in a safe and responsible manner.
Education and ExperienceB.S. in Engineering or equivalent work experience, or a minimum of 2 years' experience in an outside plant position.
Outside plant construction project management experience and inventory management experience.
Experience in ROW, private easement and permitting with local, state and federal entities.
Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of outside plant design, cable count layout, and capacities.
Must possess and maintain a valid State Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.$50,000 - $70,000 a yearComprehensive benefits include:
